Xperia go wifi@Android 4

Dear support,

after upgrading to Android Version 4, my Xperia go has major issues with connecting to wifi-networks. It even jams other devices in the same network (tested with ipod, iphone, laptop and an ipad which is not affected while being on the 5GHz band).

Doing some research on the net, it seems like that is a common problem with Xperia Android 4 devices (and has been acknowledget by sony at lesat for the Arc S, Neo V and Ray).

My questions are: Are you aware of this problem with the Xperia Go as well? When will a fix be available?

I just bought the phone with the option to upgrade to Android 4, so a downgrade is not a longterm option, but would help for now. If this problem is not addressed until the end of this week, I'll return the phone.

I also strongly cannot recommend anyone to buy a Xperia Go with the goal to upgrade to Android 4 OS.

Regards, TK

I am experiencing exactly the same problem since upgrading my Xperia Go to Android 4.

The WiFi only holds an internet connection for 30 sec to 1 min and interupts the internet connection from my laptop.  Turning off the WiFi on the phone brings the laptop's connection back almost imediately Thinking_Face

I have raised a support query via phone support and have tried everything that has been suggested but so far no luck.

Does anyone know if it is possible to revert to the old version of Android?

I was quite happy with it but upgraded to Android 4 when PC Companion instructed me that a software update was available - kind of regretting it now Slightly_frowning_Face

Yeah maybe i was just lucky ..... sucks that it didn't work out for you.

Pain in the ass reinstalling and putting eveything back ...... and then for notting.....

Did it work before you put all the back ups back???? just after the reinstall???

Hope they will fix the bug soon.

I have now been informed by phone support that, unlike other xperia models with this problem, there is not an option to send the pnone to a Service Centre for a downgrade to GB and that there is no indication as to when an update / bug fix will be released.

You know, Xperia P got the same problem after instaling ICS...

maybe i am lucky, but for this moment - WI-FI PROBLEM IS SOLVED!

in my router settings: i change following things like other people said here about Xperia P: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/49541?start=0&tstart=0

1) i turned off WMM option:

2) change the wireless interface to b/g ONLY not b/g/n (this was default mode)

3) and change Channel mode AUTO to 11

and I got working Xperia GO Wi-Fi on ICS

just a few seconds ago, I downloaded through wi-fi some app from google play, watched 3 youtube clips and... all working correctly.

Thanks for the the advice - I have done the same (without the WMM - my router doesn't seem to have this) and WiFi now works! Slightly_smiling_Face

I still don't know how this will help with public access WiFi but at least I can connect whilst I am at home now.

Lets hope that there is an update soon that will properly fix the problem and we can connect to WiFi via b, g & n again.

UPDATE

I have just carried out the ICS update (6.1.1.B.1.54) and it seems to have resolved my WiFi problem.

I have set my router back to b, g & n and to automatic channel selection and so far it seems to all be working ok - phone has kept connection and it hasn't interrrupted my laptop's connection either.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's akk ok now.

Hello!

We just bought 2 brand new Xperia P, and we have the exact same problem on both phones:

We connect to a wifi network after that i can't disable the wireless, i have to switch off the phone.

Latest software version updated in both phones, and "factory reset" phones... both of them...

AND it also happens in a Xperia SOLA we bought in October.

If the phone "looses" signal from a wifi network it is connected to, it will not connect to another network anymore, we cannot switch the wifi off. Only restarting the phone will work...

We have already made "repair" / "reset" the phone, several times, after a while the problem returns.

Yes, i so so disappointed with this phone..... i can describe it.

So had alle the previous problems. (in a timespan of 3 months ) And in the end it stared crashing. Had to re install 2 times.

In the end i brought it back to the shop and they send it off to the service center…. ( at the shop they also couldn't do anything about it.) It just died.

So after 2 weeks with no phone…. and don't count on a replacement…. i got it back. Have got it now back for 2 weeks.

And surprise surprise …… the whole annoying thing with the wifi starts again….. Come somewhere and it picks up a network and i connect to it. And it never lets it go.

Can't switch and can't turn of my wifi ……

so only option to get it working is turn off and back on the phone.

I'm so fed up with this phone. It's just not compatible with ICS …. my wires one on GB works fine. And i spoke with a dude who has one and also stayed on GB and has no problems.

But for me it has been a disaster since ICS…. (I'm running on 4.0.4)

Ohja and the screen lock button on the top is alread half numb. Have to press it hard to get my phone back...

So Sony please do something otherwise i'm forced to go buy something else and i have no option than to spread the word on not buying your phone.
