Xperia C4 Mobile Data disappears

Xperia C4 Mobile Data disappears

I purchased a C4 about 10 months ago, activated it on Tracfone, and a few months ago it started dropping my mobile data.  The network signal remains strong, but the data indicator disappears, and the only way to get it back is to change mobile access points, then change back, which usually works in 1-2 tries, rebooting the phone does not seem to help.  Once I do this, it works fine for a while, but it's gone again by the next morning.  Any idea are appreciated.

Set your network type to either 4g only or 3g only

Hi @JadePhoenix, welcome to our forum!

I'm sorry to hear about that. Slightly_frowning_Face

How often does this happen, is it daily or a once per week? Do you remember if you installed an application or updated the phone prior to this behaviour?

Have you tried the suggestion that @nolramlb posted? If so, did you notice any difference?

Does this only happen at night, since you mentioned that it's gone the next morning? Or can it happen during the day as well?

When you see that the icon has disappeared, is mobile data still activated in quick settings or in Settings > Data usage? Or is turned off?

If you are running Android 5.1.1 or earlier, please check if STAMINA-mode and Extended standby is not turned on, then it will deactivate mobile data and Wi-Fi while the screen is off. You can see that if you go to Settings > Power management > STAMINA mode.

I'd recommend that you try with a different SIM card in your phone, if you can borrow one from a colleague, friends or family member to make sure that your SIM card is not cause of this.

Keep me updated!

My data is gone every morning, I haven't noticed it happen during the day.  When it happens, my data is still turned on, it just has no connection.  Stamina mode is off, and I do not belive I installed anything around the time it started.  How do I turn off 3G or 4G, that doesn't seem to be an option anywhere?

Thanks

settings>more>mobile networks>preferred network type.

try to observe this too when you are on safe mode

Thanks for getting back to us!

You can change preferred network type with the instructions that @nolramlb mentioned. This will force the phone to be at 4G or 3G depending on what you choose.

If you only experience this after waking up every morning please try and reboot your phone in safe mode before you go to sleep, and see if the mobile data is working correctly while the phone is rebooted in safe mode.

Keep us updated! Slightly_smiling_Face

Rebooting, including Safe Mode, seems to also cause the connection to vanish, but changing to WCDMA(prefered)/GSM seems to work, although I obviously don't have LTE as a consequence.  We'll see if it's still working tomorrow.

If you are still experiencing this behaviour after tomorrow, please try with a new or another SIM card in your phone and see if the same thing occurs.

Let me know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

It's still working after 24 hours, changing the network seems to have worked.  Should I still try a new Sim card, or just live without LTE?

That is great news! Slightly_smiling_Face

I'd still recommend that you try a new or different SIM card.

Let me know how it goes and have a great weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face
