Hi to all,
I have had many problems when connecting my Xperia Arc to my wi-fi at home, which I have never had a problem on the X10.
I have followed steps to use the static IP address configuration, with no success, it connects to the wi-fi, but will not let me access the internet on my mobile device.
I have gone through the process of getting the configureations through command prompt, however it does not display my DNS1 and DNS2 configurations, from which I obtain through my wireless routers internet explorer access.
Below is a screenshot of the configurations my command prompt is giving me:
And below is the configuration my Router setup is giving, which is where I have obtained my DNS1 and DNS2 configurations:
The currenty configurations I have put into my mobile to connect via Static IP is:
IP Address: 192.168.2.3
Gateway: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS1: 192.168.1.254
DNS2: 192.168.1.254
I have even tried the IP address of 192.168.2.1 and it will connect to the wi-fi but will not let me access the internet through my mobile and sometimes will disable the internet access on my laptop.
If anyone and/or Sony Ericsson have a sollution to this issue, please let me know.
Thanks heaps to all!
Cheers,
Mike
What software version are you using on your arc?
Did you try to update the router firmware to?
Hi,
My router's firmware is up-to-date.
I am running on the version of Android 2.3.3.
I have read that there seems to be alot of people that have the same problem which this version on the Arc.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
ie - release an update?
The Android 2.3.4 update is rolling out right now for your phone model. I suggest that you wait for the notification in the phone saying that you have a new update available, and install that one.
Check if that could fix your Wi-Fi problems.
Thank you, how long will it be before I can see it on my phone, and I would like to know a way to fix this in the shortterm, as I need to use wifi at home.
Cheers,
Mike.
Hey Johan!
I have now upgrade my phone to the latest update 2.3.4 with the firmware updated to. However the same problem is still there. Please advise how to fix this or the only other option for me is to get a FOC replacement.
I look forward to your ideas!
1. First screen dump shows the configuration of the Belkin access point. IPv4 address is set as 192.168.2.3. At same time the following phone configuration is used:
The currenty configurations I have put into my mobile to connect via Static IP is:
IP Address: 192.168.2.3
Gateway: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS1: 192.168.1.254
DNS2: 192.168.1.254
IP addresses for phone and AP are the same. That shouldn’t work.
2. Different subnet for DNS compared to phone and access point. I’m not sure if that’s allowed given that the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
Ex.
192.168.1.254
192.168.2.1
192.168.2.3
Maybe it’s OK but I would try having all of them on the same subnet.
