Hi
my phone is xperia arc.it's SL number is 1246-9197 please tell me is it can update to ICS ??
I'm in the same situation, with an LT15i/1246-9197. The 'i' in the model number seems to stand for 'ignored'. It should not take months and months to roll out a simple software update. Please can someone give me some idea of when it will appear?
You can check if you're able to update to ICS in this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38387
Thank you for the reply Johan, but both Madawa and I have an LT15i. The list you posted is for the LT15 and does not address the question we both asked.
Please can you give us some idea of when I might be able to get ICS on my LT15i via the Sony PC companion? It's not an unreasonable question and I'd be grateful for a straight and simple answer.
I agree with you!! I have the same problam with 1246-9197! can any one answer us - when we'll get the update?
Thanks.
PLEASE SONY HELP US !!!!
1246-9197 is not listed
when we'll get this update SONY ????
Thanks.......
most likely your carrier is not going to release ICS
Thank you for the info uliwooly. I bought my phone at full price unlocked on the understanding that Sony would provide an upgrade to ICS. I'm not sure what my carrier has to do with it. I have to use a different network in each country because of Europe's fragmented cellphone system.
Am I to understand that Sony will not be honoring its promise to upgrade my handset to ICS (via the PC companion)?
There are a number of issues I am having with the gingerbread version of Android that came pre-installed on my Arc that seriously compromise its use (see http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/299622#299622). If I am not going to get ICS officially then I'll have to upgrade unofficially, which I really resent having to do. I've used sony-ericsson handsets for most of the last 10 years, and although I really like the hardware, the pre-installed software has been buggy and problematic. If I don't recieve an official ICS update via my PC then I think it's time I tried an iPhone.
Well first of all I really like my Sony Ericsson, it hasn't updated jet. After I deleted the updates of 1 app everything works really nice again! In a year I gonna buy a new phone anyways and offcourse a Sony!
Well that guy what replied, I think it's time I tried an iPhone is stupid. Everybody what already has an Apple can keep it, butt I really hope the people what doesn't have an Apple do not switch to that brand. My phone isn't updated either. I also got a problem with my phone because one app came to my device and suddenly everything became very slow. I also thought what a crappy thing, let's throw him away, why my phone doesn't update. Started to investigate why all of the sudden my phone was that slow. Found out it was because the app Smart Connect. Once i removed the updates of that app everthing works fast again.
The phone what really looks neat now is the Xperia T. Butt who knows with which other nead things they gonna come with!
Btw: If an Sony member is going to read this and wonders what my sim SI number is, well my number is: 1246-1836. Still waiting for update, hope it comes soon!
I'm sorry to do this uliwooly BUT 1246-9197 is an unbranded unlocked SI, as such it does not need carrier approval. Sony could push the ICS update at any time as these phones do not have any carrier software on them that could be compromised by ICS.
Surely by now Sony know if this SI number will be updated or not. Other companies are rolling out Jelly Bean to their devices as we speak, yet Sony do not have the decency to inform users wether their phone will even be updated to an old OS especially after they promised they would update all 2011 Xperia devices.
