I have a month old Xperia Arc S that won't start up!
I had it on the battery charger at night, and in the morning i pulled out the cable. I thought the indicator light was on but i'm not sure.
Now when i press the powerbutton, nothing happens.
I tried removing the battery, sd card and SIM card but it still won't turn on. It just does nothing.
Is this a known problem? And how can i fix it? Or do i have to return it for warranty?
Please help!
first connect the phone to your pc , does it gets recognised..??
when you long press the power button , does the LED glows..??
also download the software below on your pc and

Thanks for the response!
When i connect my phone to my pc, nothing happens. The pc does not recognise the phone.
When i press the power button for a longer period of time, the led does not turn on.
When i last checked a week ago, my phone had the newest software, but of course i only had the phone for three weeks.
Called customer support and they advised me to go back to the store, so i will give that a trie.
hmm , ok...
just download that software and see if it gets recognises or not... then you should take it to store or a service centre to get it checked..
keep us updated..
I went to the store and they said it's probably a software issue.
Then i went to the repair/service centre but it closed earlier then i thought.
Will bring my phone there monday and hopefully i can pick it up in an hour (that's what the store said)..
The PC doesn't see the phone, the phone doesn't react to the USB cable, so i can't do anything myself right now..
Wil post again on monday...
ok.. hmm knew it..store guys are not that techy , the link i gave you was to fix any software issue
so if your phone is not recognising , it must be something else..
well no problem.. i hope they fix it
Hi,
I have the exact same issues with my Arc S. 1 year old phone and up to date. I also did all the steps but nothing happened... Hopefully the repair center can help!
My Xperia Arc S came back from the dead. As a last check before mailing it to the Sony service centre I plugged in to the originally supplied charger and it finally started charging.
We have several Sony USB chargers and normally everything will work with everything so when the Xperia Arc S would not power on after a flight I plugged in to a charger to see if it was just a flat battery though it had 50% before it was shut down. This made no difference and what was worse, there was absolutely no sign of life, no red led for charging or anything. Connecting it to my laptop got nothing back either, it just didn't see any device there at all. The very helpful lady on the Sony Mobile support then asked me to download the service software mentioned above and that did not see a device either. She called me back and then sent me the info for posting my handset to the repair centre and I was just checking with the original charger before putting it all in the bag to mail when it sprang in to life and yes, it still had 50% charge in it!
The phone was genuinely dead and cables and chargers all working; we have multiple phones, camera and tablet that all work fine with these. However, I have read that manufacturers chargers have intelligence for managing efficient charging etc. and I just wonder if the original charger also re-initialised the power management on the phone and from there it was able to re-start.
So one tip is to make sure you have tried the original charger before sending it away for repair.
