I just got my xperia arc s yesterday and connected to wifi at my friend's house, everything works great. When I came home I tried connecting to my router at home, but my xperia doesn't find it! It finds a lot of other different routers in range, but doesn't see mine. My laptop and my htc see the router with no problem and can connect, for some reason, it's only the xperia that doesn't see that specific router. What can I do?
hi gwwhispererz,
Tried the service menu WLAN test and other wifis can be seen but not mine.
My wifi broadcast SSID that can be seen by my other phones + laptop.
And it did work fine the 1st two days... Strange, might go for a full Factory Default !!
If that fails, I guess Factory Data Reset is your next option. Just bear in mind that it could be router's issue. Be aware that a reset will erase phone memory completely.
Before moving to that, may I know when you are trying to connect to Wi-Fi Network, is phone data enabled?
phone data traffic is disabled (off) as i have no flat rate on data traffic on this account
router should have no issue /it already worked on this router 3 days back and i have reseted and double checked router configuration.
No problem on Factory reset on this new Arc S, as very little was done yet /the idea was to do this weekend...
changes and tests done were :
Factory reset follows later this evening ..
Fingers crossed.
Factory reset ... and problem solved!
lost some pre-installed appl but ok...
hope you get your's solved too.
Thanks to all
Glad that the reset worked for you, hopefully it does the same to Crystalangel.
Nop, that didn't work for me either. But at least I figured out the problem is my router, it is simply not visible to xperia arc or xperia arc s
Had my friend come over and check for it, since he's got the same phone, and he doesn't see it either. So I'm guessing I need to update the firmware?
A firmware update would be great, yes. Can't promise it will work but it's a good way to go.
Otherwise, try changing the security settings for the network. Try to set it to an open network first of all just to see if that works. If it does, then you can try with WPA/WPA2/PSK (very commonly used and should work fine).
Hi everyone, had the same problem connecting my Xperia Arc S with my home network (cisco 851w router). Changed the wireless channel on my router under 11 (it was 13) . Started to see my SSID and successefully connected. It seems to be the phone does not support wifi channels higher than 11...
Good luck to everyone,
Egorich.
What a damn solution. It really worked. Accept my big thanks.
