My son has been using Xperia Active for about two months. Some day he noticed he's not able to take any photos because of "memory write protected" error showing in camera app. I have started investigation and found that original micro sd 2 GB card was not full (still about 400 megs), and it was still perfectly writable under windows 7 and card reader - so i started with full backup of card contents.
I have tried different combinations of other cards (brand new or used before, 2 gb micro sd, 2 gb micro sd hc, 8 gb micro sd hc), preformatted, formatted on pc and empty, formatted on pc and restored with original files - all with no success. I had issues like:
- card reported as blank (although not blank on pc)
- card reported as broken (not on pc)
- card dismounting itself after trying to mount
- card not eraseable on the phone
- card mountable and recognised by android, but still unwritable by camera app.
After all these efforts, it looks like the phone's sd card reader is a piece of crap, now. Even tried totally reflashing the phone (first with 2.3, and finally with ICS 4.0), no success though.
Have no idea what could cause such behaviour with different cards. I remember that phone was first activated with some trial macaffee, but it was disabled then - and later on reflashed, so it should have no meaning.
Any ideas, anyone, except for taking the phone to the repair?
