XP Gallery Issue-Please HELP!

Can anyone tell me why random files from games, specifically-"mp1", "ipsp", "images", "icons", "video", and "movies" have been showing up randomly like cache in my Gallery screen where my photos are housed????

Can anyone tell me if I am OK to delete these as well as a fix for them being stored here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

~Sean

Hello NCirie

From what I've seen, the gallery or "albums" reads all pictures in the unit and places a folder icon on the display with the name of the actual folder the picture is stored in.

In my case I've seen this is specially so for games stored in the SD card.

I'll do some more research on this to see if there is way to block certain folders.

I'll keep in touch.

Thanks for your response Francis!

But why all of a sudden after not dealing with this since I started using the phone last year????

This just started happening as of yesterday.  Some of these files are like the intros or trailers for the games. Others look like screen shots or art from the games.

Also, can I delete these?

those random pictures, videos, are probably from an app or game that you recently installed, even if you delete the app/game the folder remains on your SD card, so you should open one of those random pictures and copy the file's name > use an app like astro file manager or OI file manager to look for this file

if uliwooly is right, the solution for your problem is to create a .nomedia file in the source folders of those images/videos. you can try this using es file manager, just go to the folder where the unwanted images are located and create the .nomedia file.

Thanks to both uliwooly and noIramlb!  I think we are almost there.

I recall recently deleting a .nomedia file from sdcard/Android/data/SD files thinking at the time it was just cache.

Is there a way to fix this?

How do I create the .nomedia file?

Once this is created, can I just move those unwamted files from my Gallery to this .nomedia file/folder?

How do I even access these files in Gallery on the SD card as I cannot locate them when I plug the phone into my computer and try to view?

Please help! and thank-you!

Thanks uliwooly!

This makes total sense, however, part of the issue is I cannot locate these files on the SD card when I am in Astro or even plugging the phone into the USB on my computer.

Please advise how to do this.  I have also responded to noIramlb below.
