Ive connected the Sony Xperia TV dock to my TV Sony Bravia TVKDL-40S2510 (tv is approx 6 years old).
Using a Sony Xperia T phone .. I have manged to get the phone screen on the TV screen, however - thier are currently 2 problems
1. The remote does not work with this. ? (I can navigate from the actual phone when in the dock)
2. When watching Movies/Streams or You Tube videos on the big screen the picture/video quality is poor.?
Help much appreciated.
I've checked the specifications for the TV but i can't find any mention of HDMI-CEC which is needed for control to work so perhaps the problem is that your TV does not support HDMI-CEC. I recommend that you contact support for the TV (http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/support-contacts.pl?mdltype_id=36) to check if it supports HDMI-CEC or if there's an update available for the TV.
When you stream video, many sites redirects to a low quality video or adjusts to the available bandwidth when using a mobile phone so quality may be lower when using streaming. If using the Youtube app, go to settings in the app and enable high quality or if you use another app, check the settings in that app to see if you can adjust quality.
I have just joined this forum and I wish it was for positive reasons.
I also bought the official Dock and I am now aware that my very recently purchased Samsung LED tv doesn't support HDMI CEC. So even with a voucher the dock cost £35.40 and I bought some HDMI cables and a splitter box (to allow more HDMI inputs) at further cost of around £20.
So nothing to control the mobile other than kneeling down at the Dock and using the mobile itself with the chunky base attached! I wanted to play some games you know have fun like it says in your emails!
The other frustration is that I have a Roxfit case for the Xperia t which I believe is the recommended case (the silver coating is all wearing off, so ordered a black one but that's another discussion)) It frustratingly has to be removed to use the Dock and with all this talk of peeling coatings I find the removal is not something I want to do very often. The case is a tight fit and a bit of stress to remove.
Finally and what is my main frustration for me is the apparent Dualshock incompatibilty. Now I am very aware that people are rooting Andoid phones for this to work but I am not comfortable with going this path because I am aware of breaching guarantees etc. The fact of the matter is I have a PS3 sitting beside the Dock and clearly the technology is there to make the Dualshock work but not legitimately through Sony. Will the new Jelly Bean upgrade change this? I know you have a tablet on the market that supports the Dualshock so why can't the flagship 007 'Playstation' scene tax mobile have this?
Not pleased as the phone itself I think is generally really good but let down by the above.
Thanks for listening.
Hello,
I need similar answer to my question, the tv is sony kdl 40ex402 please, I want to know if it is possible to connect the phone to it and control it by remote. The specs of the tv says its hdmi cec compatible and i have mhl adaptwr but it doesnt work and i dont know why. If its the tv then I dont want to give more money to buy other docks or adapters. I dont have any left after buying many sony accessories. Please give me a clue
Thanks for helping.. The Sony support link doesnt help a great deal, just takes you to help forums like this one and also shows you the spec of the TV, and as you say .. theres no mention its HDMI-CEC enabled. Im going to resign it as not having it.
As my main pourpose for the dock is to watch TV/films and You tube streams its not a great loss as once its on its just a matter of sitting back and watching.
Your Settings help for better quality on You Tube worked and improved the video quality on the TV so thanks for that.
Finally Sony should really state the need for HDMI-CEC enabled TVs to use the remote on their advertisment for the dock - they make it all sounds like just plug n play, misleading.

I am in agreement with you, kneeling isnt good! and if you read my reply post above I suggest that Sony do not advertise the dock in a way that it looks almost as simple as plug n play!. They should stress the need for HDMI-CEC enabled TV. for remote control use.
I also got the Dock at the reduced porioce of £35.40 and I was expecting more from this dock, I am slightly dissapointed by it and as you say the Sony Xperia T phone itself is really good.
Finaly FYI you can buy simple cases for the phone at cheap prices on amazon
Good luck.
