I'm a member of the XDA Forum, and mostly active in X10 forum.
With few others members we managed to get android 4.1 working on this old but good device that is X10. And soon android 4.2 will be fully working too.
In the same time we followed CM steps on CM9.1 (android 4.0) that we managed to improve.
Still in the same time we will get for these users a nearly full working 2.6.32 kernel. This new step in x10 history will allow us to go further in kernel upgrade as from this we should go to .35 .... and maybe 3.0 no one knows
I won't list all the enhancement that have been made to 2.6.29 kernel ....
But ...
To go further, we need your help ...
I know posts have already made about this but latest enhancement shows x10 still a really good device. ( many people still using it when I see posts in your forum)
As we'd like to make enhancement even for users with stock GB rom, we need your help.
So ... Would you release the whole X10 sources that should allow us to build a real stock firmware with aosp sources ?
I know that some applications can't be relased but we mostly need all the hardware related files (camera, graphic, etc )
Hope that you would answer "yes" to this question 
Just few more words ... I know x10 is an old device compares with nowday's phones even with enhancement. That's why I don't think users won't buy new phones
