X10 can't take 2.3.3??

S.E. sent a message stating an update was avaliable.  I followed the steps and 2.3.3 was installed. Good I thought until I found functions on the phone no longer worked. After numberous calls to the moile provider I was finally told that I shouldn't have updated because the upgrade to 2.3.3 was not meant for my S.E. Xperia X10!

Is this true?

Most of the phone now works but no WiFi (just says limited conectivity when trying to log onto home wireless) and no calendar.

I can't seem to find a way to go back to the old version of the software either.

Any thoughts?

Mine is on 2.3.3 and works perfectly well, including wifi. If the phone told you you had an update, I don't see why you were told you shouldn't have it. Have you tried 'forgetting' your home wifi and signing in anew? And have you tried using wifi elsewhere...?

I have two X10s that are on 2.3.3 and working well.

Try to perform software/firmwware repair using PC Companion to see if it helps.

Connect your phone to the PC via the USB cable

The repair option on PC Companion (Support Zone --> Update --> Repair).

Please backup your phone data and settings before proceeding.

If you want to downgrade to 2.1 again, you have to perform a manual firmware downgrade.

This is an unofficial process.

Basically what you need to perform the manual firmware downgrade  is :

1. The older version of the firmware file. (v 2.1 firmware) from the link below

Choose your 2.1 firmware version. Might be good to choose the global generic version..

You may need to unzip the file once downloaded.

The link also has other links to advice you how to use the flash tool, etc, etc 

2. The program to update the firmware on your phone ( Flash tool ). Download and install the flash toolyour PC.  Follow the on screen instructions.

I also did the upgrade to 2.3.3. and now all I can access is the internet and facebook, but, I cannot make or receive phone calls, I am not tech minded when it comes to mobiles so if anyone has the x10 for idiots guide I would appreciate the help.  Donna
