Won't record video or audio in any app

I have had the phone a few months but have only just tried to record any video using the stock video camera app, and got an error "Unknown error".  Not very helpful!  I rebooted my phone, changed the quality to the lowest, but still no joy.

Then last night I tried to record some audio - I used "Easy Voice Recorder"  and got an error "An error occurred while recording to My recording #1.wav: dd: Could not initialize the audio recorder.  Ensure that noother apps are using the microphone.  If the problem persists, restart your phone"

I tried a couple of different audio/video recording apps and all came up with various errors, but I think the above one is probably the most helpful.


Any ideas ?  Is it a new phone job, or something I can sort myself with a driver update or anything?

I suggest you please repair your phone with SUS OR PCC

You could try to start your phone in safe mode to see if there is any 3rd party app you have installed in your phone causing the problem:

Try to record a video using the camera in safe mode. If the problem still persists I suggest that you follow the suggestion above.

Thanks both.  I was having a scout online and found that there was a voice recorder already on the phone (I didn't need to download the third party app) and to get to it you needed to go to Recent Apps and it's on the bottom bar.  Whilst I was there I swiped all recent apps away and recorded and it worked.  I then tried video and that worked too.  So clearly, some app is starting up which is using and not releasing the microphone.  If all I have to do is swipe the recent apps each time, then I'm okay with that.  Many thanks again for the quick responses 🙂
