Wireless connection between Z1 and PC

I'm trying to connect my Z1 to the PC via wifi but I am having trouble with the last step.  After the two paired, I got a dialog saying I need to "...manually enable the "Wireless Portable Devices" firewall ecxeption..."

The trouble is where?  I use Kaspersky IS 2014 for my firewall, but I cannot find anything in there.  Is it in the Windows firewall (bit pointless if I use a third party firewall!!)?.

Once this problem is sorted, how do I access the Z1?  Does it appear as a drive in Computer or something?

Thanks

If using Win7 then connect your device via USB then open Computer and right click your phone then select Network configuration accept on your phone to have settings pushed to it then once complete you should be able to connect without issue

Hi Thommo,

I tried your suggestion however, I eended up with the same dialog box as before.

I even tried after disabling Kaspersky, still with the same dialog.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think it has something to do with your firewall's trust level. If you set your network properties to be public, a higher security level will be established preventing access from most sources. Try to figure out how to decrease security level of your firewall or add exceptions to it.

Kaspersky is managing my firewall so I've disabled that to see whether it makes a difference.  The problem is, I don't know what I am looking for!!  Should the phone automatically appear somewhere on the PC, as a drive perhaps.  Or, do I need to do something on the phone to enable a connection????????

Once Kaspersky is diabled, I don't actually know what is supposed to happen, let alone what I should be expecting to happen Anguished_Face

Once setup is complete then disconnect from your Pc then open settings then Xperia connectivity then USB connectivity and if all went well your Pc's name should be listed then tap on it and then tap on connect

Ah,

Well this is particuarly odd.  Although I get this error, it will allows connection between the two devices.  Out of coincidence, I also tried my tablet and I get exactly the same issues with that also.

Oh well.  So long as it does what it says in the tin then all is well.  Probably on of those good ol' windows errors which means nothing????

Thanks for your help guys Slightly_smiling_Face
