Will Sony be smart enough? (4.2.2 update)

Today is the launch of the Galaxy S4, the main competitor of the Xperia Z for the smartphone of the year.

From tomorrow all the customers, press, magazines, forums and blogs worldwide will compare them and this will influence in millions of buyers in order to choose one of them during the next months.

Most of the people agree that the Z has a better hardware and design, while the S4 has a better software, basically because it's 4.2.2 against 4.1.2.

It's in Sony hands to neutralize the most important sales argument of Samsung by releasing the 4.2.2 update for the Z right away.

This simple strategic decision may deviate the sale of millions of units and the success of one company. Only one will be the winner.

If I were the Sony Mobile CEO, in this moment there would be dozens of people working day and night in order to finish the software by tomorrow and make a big announcement the same day of the S4 launch.

Will Sony be smart enough to do it?

YES , i totally agree, sony never uses the potential of the hardware.Its like Driving Ferrari car with Maruthi 800 engine. 4.1.2 itself is buggy in some cases. for example they don have a simple refresh option in  walkman app. 4.2.2 should be released as an update as well as it should be bug free.

Specially other competitor use better screen (IPS, Super Amoled) but Sony use TFT and try to boots the display using software( BE2). Other competitors 8mp/13mp capture better details and colors of image (3-4mb for 8mp/5-6mb for 13mp) while Sony flagship(?) XZ 13mp camera capture only 1-2mb (heavy compression) of picture with loss of details. Totally nonsense for the compression.

They try to cover the image taken by using BE2 which pictures taken only appear better in our XZ display, but when you put on PC, TV or social web it doesn't look as great as it appear in our phone.

With great hardware but come with poor software, furthermore we know the fruit company phone using Sony camera sensor but capture better image compare to XZ. Sony should really hire new Software Engineer for the camera phone software development department or change the protocol/policy of heavy compression for the image taken by the Xperia phone.

As you said so, with nowaday's competition in smartphone market, Sony should really listen to what consumer want and needs, and make improvement, don't make us the Sony consumers/fans dissapoint and regret for purchasing their products. As we know Sony can make it better (as we know Sony is 1 of the best camera/imaging product company in the world).

Else, Sony hardly could achieve as market leader in smartphone, neither now nor future.

Sony, it's your move.

you will never get a bug free OS - you will never get a bug free phone

as time moves on and technology moves on the software and hardware  will continue to challenge one another and you will always have issues - nothing new about that - what I have noticed though is that the problems created seem to attract a lot of owners who have little else to do but complain about nothing

In my one month ownership of this phone I have established only one real issue - wifi

The camera issue is an improvement request

I'd say that at least 50% of people that come here to complain have inflicted the problem on themselves by installing dodgy software - quite a number have admitted this - equally I'd say quite a number have not

As for the S4 - if you think Sammy have released a 100% bug free device then dream on - it will have issues a plenty - and I'll make a prediction now that it's biggest problem will be battery life and it will be a lot worse than the EZ (which IMO ain't bad) - it will have wifi issues and stuff that just doesn't work
