I did upgrade to ICS and all looked fine but now I can't turn WIFI on and off.
If WIFI is on, It won't change to other WIFI-network, when signal is lost to another WIFI network.
I have to switch off the phone.
What can I do?
this is so frustrating as my Mobile data plan wont kick in as the phone technically is still "connected" to my home wifi network although i am miles away from home
Its a smart phone and 99% of the things need Internet, what's the point of smart phone if Internet cannot work!!
Xperia u SI 1262-0728
Well, it's very strange and common problem with Xperia U after ugrading to ICS... You'll need to flash manually the latest stable ICS firmwire and that's it. (I had wifi problem too).
You have some guide here
Latest firmware ICS here and the guide to install it

And you should try searching solutions for your problem before posting a question. Every third or forth post is the same wi-fi problem  It's little bit annoying
Good luck
I think you have the same problem as me

There is no official solution from Sony.
You don't need official solution from Sony. It's your choice to wait for it.
However Croatian/Slovakian firmwire is certified, so it's official firmwire and there is no known problems with it. The only problem is that it's avaiable only in Slovakia and Croatia over PCC and SUS.
But it is available to flash it manually. And I've never heard anyone got such bugs with c.1.10, or complaining about lagging, wifi, camera...
I had wifi problem after ugrading to 6.1.1.b.1.10 but after i flashed 6.1.1.c.1.10 my phone runs perfectly fine, and now I am satisfied with it.
C10 still has the same problem.
It just work better, but not solve it.
Have you tried c10?
It fix my problem... And since then I've never had problems with it. And personally I've never heard someone to get stuck wifi with c10
Yes. C.1.10 just work a little better in my case.
The best solution now is downgrade to 2.3.7
I still suggest to try c.10 ... There's nothing he can loose. Maybe you just have no lucky 😕
thx Slajder
I did search on the web but every time the solution was "There is no official solution from Sony" or something along those lines. So i didnt know what to do
Your solution sounds good, i will try it
Thank you so much.
I am however novice on this root/manual update etc so i do have some questions if you don't mind.
Questions
1) In installation guide (the link you gave me) i need to go all the way down with the 8 steps i.e i need to do root so i will get it
2) how will i know which binary is better (v15 or v13) in step 6
3) When Sony releases C.10 update for my phone (i.e UK market) will i have some problems in updating software (coz this is upgrade for Croatia and Slovakia)
4) Will i lose my warranty ..
Your help is much appreciated.
Many thanks
Well there are some providers (like in India) that haven't released ICS update yet... So they'd have to update manually if they want ICS runing on their phone.
4) Warranty MAY be lost if you root your phone, or you're unlocking your bootloader. And, since you're not doing that, just flashing official firmwire I don't think there would be a problem. But, in case you wanna root your phone, and you're afraid of loosing the warranty you should ask your supplier. It's up to them. Personally I don't think they would be completly honest to tell you about roothing .
3) This firmwire is from T-Mobile (it has T-Mobile boot logo and a silly app called web'n'walk and easy to uninstall), so unless you're not using T-Mobile provider i doubt c.10 will be available to you. We're waiting for the latest certified firmwire b.1.75 but it isn't out yet -.- for some unknown reason. If you get notification about b.1.75 i think that there would be no problem upgrading it via SUS or PCC.
1 & 2) No, only to step 4. Step 5 and further is for rooting your phone. Rooting will gain you administrators privileges, so you can delete/edit/replace system files, applications etc.
Binary is used to root your phone, you don't need it if you only want to flash c.10 firmwire. I've rooted my phone using Binary v13, I've never tried v15... so it's up to you.
If you decide to root here is video tut how to use Binary for xperia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EpkrCq1gfM
P.S. For flashing you need only flashtool and the c.10 firmwire, download the kernels and binary only if you wanna root the phone.
After installing flashtool, make sure you install the flashtool drivers for Xperia U, fastboot and flashmode. They are in flashtool folder, just select what you want to install from the check box list.
After installing the drivers connect your phone to PC, let it be recognized.
Then turn the phone off and disconnect the USB cable, wait few seconds and then connect the phone while holding the Volume Down Key (as in PCC) and it should be recognized in flashmode too.
After this, you can continue to step 2) from xda tutorial. If you don't install the drivers, the flashtool will give you error asking you to install the drivers first
