WIFI signal

After updating to ics my wifi signals are too week. even the router is in same room its showing very less signals.and sygic navigation is not working. phone is hanging?

It's a known bug with the new firmware - Theres less power been given to the wi-fi and as such makes it hard for the phone to connect - I made a thread here when it 1st got released and XDA have confirmed that it is indeed a bug with the new ICS Firmware

Do you have difficulty in actually connecting? I have found that I have slightly less bars of reception but still the same range and no loss of connectivity.

I have too many problems using WiFi (Xperia S ICS)

Sometimes I can't turn WiFi on or off

Sometimes it's turned on but isn't able to find known available networks (it says it's outta range)

Sometimes it finds the network but it do not connect! Even when I click on the network's name and tap connect, it refuses to Connect!

I even can't ask my device to forget some networks I registered before! It refuses to!

Sometimes it's connected but it do not transfer data!

I would like to share my experience, since I believe comments like "can you actually connect" may be very misleading. Like GUL I have a WiFi router in my house so obviously after upgrading to ICS I can still connect, but as SAM points out level of signal shown is generally lower. I usually see 2 bars instead of 3 (full) when I was on GB. What is really worrying is I notice it tends to drop to 1 bar and back up to 2 frequently (within 3-5 secs). This is also confimed when I look at the number of networks the phone can actually detect (I live in a block of flats so there are a few). When I was on GB it detected roughly 7-8 networks and none where "dropped". This was a very good result, because it was the same as my laptop! Right now my SXS detects maximum 5 and in a space of 1 minute it can drop to 3 and back to 5 again. I think Sony should really take a closer look at this, beacuse I feel we are going backwards here!

I just bought the phone, and it can't connect to my home wifi.

However it connects to my friends' (4+) wifi.

What is the issue?

Root or what?

Let me know. I didn't drop HK31000 for an item that can't do what it's meant to..
