Hello all,
Can somebody help me why my Xperia S is not able to connect to internet via wifi? It is showing signal strength in full but there is no data transfer. I am sure that there is no problem with my router and firewall settings as others in my home are able to connect to internet via wifi.
My phone specifications are given below
Model: Sony Xperia S (LT26i)
Android Version: 4.0.4 Icecream Sandwich
Build number: 6.1.A.0.453
Region/Locale: United Kingdom (1257-3114)
Many thanks in advance.
You can find a few tips to troubleshoot in this thread.

Let me know when you have checked all of them and if it still won't work.
Why doesn't Sony Xperia Support As above answer members with the truth that it's a known issue with the wireless and the Xperia S - You are the not the only 1 - More members are having issues than aren't, hence why many owners are manually downgrading back to GB
Dear Johan,
I have tried all possible methods and later I posted this. You can find one of the real time issues I am facing with my device from the picture (which was edited to remove the location information for privacy and security reasons with MS Paint). I don't say the connectiviy is zero but eventually I am facing problems with WiFi connectiviy. Some times it won't even connect to network (illustrated above) and some times it connects to network but no access/limited access to internet.
Perhaps you could check the logs from your router to and hopefully see any hints on why access is denied at sometimes.
And you get this problem on several access points you've tested?
I also have an LT26i
4.0.4
Build number: 6.1.A.0.452
and since upgrading to ICS data will not 'flow' over wifi.
Data will only come through if 'Data' is turned on and where previouusly I was barely scratching the surface of my provider data allocation, now my data allocation is chewed up at a great rate.
It says that its connected to my wifi network and 3 other devices on the same network function flawlessly. It also doesn't work on other wifi networks.
What's happened? It was a flawless operation on GB.
Dear Johan,
I am sorry, I don't know how to check logs from my router and I am not a technical person to grasp what it is. Apart from the technical issues, I tried using my device in my friend's place and the result is the same as stated above.
Apparently I am left with only one option which is to re-install OS on my device and if it is not the problem with OS I would recycle it.
Open Feedback: I am not satisfied with Sony at all. There are many issues with hardware and software. Yello tints on screen, Camera focus issue, low headphone volume, irresponsive home key and back key and many.
The worst of all, Hindi and Bengali are not the only Indian languages there are many Indian languaes which are spoken by 100s of millions (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam and Odia). Which comprises more than 2/3s of USA population. Just one single font can solve the problem but I don't know why Sony is not at all bothered.
Well, Thanks for giving your time Johan.
Bye.
