That is not really an error message; however it should only be displayed for a short time prior to the actual connection taking place. Does it just hang on this status?

I am also facing the same problem from yesterday. My office has an open wifi hotspot which I used regular basis but from yesterday it shows an error saying "Obtaining IP address" and got stucked for a long time. If I create portable hotspot on my friend's phone to share mobile data no problem occurs. It happens only when I try to access wifi hotspots present in my office or any shopping plaza. Phones from other brands can access it smoothly... whats the problem?? Plzz help me out sony experts.

Here u go

The solution is to use a static IP for
your WiFi connection, to do this:
From your android device,
goto Settings > Wireless and
networks > WiFi Settings >
Click menu button (left) and
select advanced.
You'll see an option "use
static IP" under IP settings
section. Enable it and enter
the following parameters.
1. IP address : 192.168.1.253
2. Gateway: 192.168.1.1
3. Netmask: 255.255.255.0
4. Dns1: 8.8.4.4

iIt`s not from ur mobile this massage appears when the maximum number of active conections has reached .Its from router cant make any more conections.
