Why double screen locks?

Why double screen locks?

When protecting the Neo with "Visible Pattern Screenlock", the default "Swipe to unlock" does NOT disappear. This means that if you want to protect your phone, you have to BOTH swipe AND draw the unlock pattern. This must be a bug...?! Anyone who knows how to circumvent this???

You are absolutely right, but having a setting to turn the swipe unlock off and a warning of the possible consequences seems about enough. If I want to shoot myself in the foot I shoul be able to do so, right? Slightly_smiling_Face

I totally agree ! I have a leather case like this one for my Arc S : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230740005298 . That makes any accidental "pocket dialing" impossible. So I definitely don't need the swipe lock screen AND the pattern lock screen !

So I too am asking for an option to remove the swipe lock screen and keep the pattern lock screen. It looks obvious to me that this should be an option and it should definitely NOT be imposed by Sony. I'm a grown-up, I know perfectly what to do with my phone, and in this case I don't want Sony to think what's good for me or not.

I'm currently waiting for the Sony ICS upgrade, and I seriously hope that Sony will provide this option with that upgrade. I think we have been awaiting too long for such a simple thing. And let's face it : for all users like me with leather cases, the "double lock screen" solution is simply ridiculous !

Thanks in advance for your reply. Slightly_smiling_Face

I know it's an old topic, but I've got the same issue (or is it an issue, since it's apparently a feature?) on my Xperia Pro (upgraded to ICS). What's different, however, is that my phone doesn't always ask me to double unlock it - sometimes it's just the pattern, sometimes it's both - I'm not sure if it depends on anything or is random. And it's really annoying, seeing how I have to use pattern or PIN protection due to some certificates I use. Is it a bug? Or is there a way to disable it that I haven't found yet?
