hi. i currently have the xperia neo. im going to buy a new fone, but cant seem to decide between the xperia S and xperia P. i have read too many reviews about the 2 fones, but as u know reviews can be deceptive. so i wanna know form u...the actual users. for me budget is not a problem at all, wat im looking for is "value for money". some of the things i have found most(if not all) reviews agree upon are-
1. the display of xperia P even though smaller is better than that of xperia S in terms of color banding and reproduction as well as consistency...courtesy White magic tech.
2. the camera of xperia P produces more acceptable results overall, even though its less in MP.
3. the audio quality of xperia P(esp. with headphones attached) is just a bit better than xperia S.
4. almunium unibody of xperia P is better than matte plastic of xperia S.
i also found in a youtube video showing head to head comparison of the 2 fones that, the xperia S display gives oversaturated colors.
now i want to know from the users of these 2 fones their thoughts regarding these points n share their views regarding which is the better fone overall. we can forget the price n specs here. i know that the xperia S is higher in specs in almost every department. just keep in mind the "value for money" thingy here...n decide which smartphone really excels..
thanks.
I bought the xperia p, since the camera is a bit better than xperia s. my girlfriend have the xperia s. we both play GTA 3 on our phones, her xpS lags a bit while my xpP doesn't. But the fast capture (sleep to capture) is a bit slow in xperia P it takes 3 to 5 second. colors of the screen when set the brightness to 80%-100% makes the yellow look like green. but in sunlight the color is great.
@ryan515- thanks a lot. i think u cud give me the best possible review
as u have access to both the phones. i wud just like to know about the display now...which fone has the better display overall? consider everything color, contrast, sunlight legibility, etc. we know that P has the White magic and S has the higher ppi.
Well, for me xperia s has a very slight advantage regards to the higher ppi. But it us not noticeable. Whereas xperia p display is still very sharp and crisp. Sony xperia s don't have light sensor whereas xperia p have this would help set the right backlight brightness automatically for display legibility when in direct sunlight and saves energy when indoors or with low light situation.
Xperia S has 12mp camera that can shoot from sleep to capture within less than 1 to 2 seconds. Although xperia p has this feature too, from my experience it is slow compares to xperia S with 3 to 5 seconds from sleep to capture. But an issue that is very frustrating with the xperia S is the focus of the camera, where the device have hard time focusing on objects unlike the xperia.
We all know that xperia p has white magic and xperia S don't. The white magic is very good in sunny situation but when the brightness is set to 80% to 100% the color shifts especially the yellow because it turns to green. So I recommend using auto brightness.
Xperia S has 1.5ghz dual core processor and xperia p has only 1ghz dual core processor. So xperia S will be more responsive and quick rather than xperia p. And it is quite noticeable when you compare the two phones. And xperia S has been updated to ics but the xperia p is still on gingerbread.
Hi Rynan, In Camera option for XP P. There is option Quick launch what is it for ?
Hello raja,
That is for the fast capture (sleep ti capture) setting. It gives you option whether if you want to launch the camera when you push the shutter button while at sleep then captures the photo. There are 3 options there:
1. Launch and capture - when shutter button is push and hold while at sleep it will instantly launch the camera and capture the image.
2. Launch - if you only want to launch the camera while at sleep.
3. Off - if you don't want the fast capture feature (sleep to capture)
Thanks for the Quick reply Ryan515,
Now its clear for me..
Thanku
And i think the photos taken by the quick lauch are not uo to the mark right ? They are like Blur in some cases.
Yes, very hard to capture good photo with quick launch. But in xperia S I can capture good shots with it.
Does this quick lauch work only with the button ?
Yes, this is only for the shutter button because it is for the sleep to capture feature. Where the phone is at sleep then you will hold the shutter button.
