Whatsapp restore

Hi

Just got my Sony Z1 Compact.

I`m using Sony PC companion and most data backed up fine except my Whatsapp messages.

i`ve done an iTunes backup to my PC and iCloud , but when I install the sim and whatsapp on my Sony, none of my recent messages shows up. I did select restore messages when whatsapp 1st started, but only a few old messages show up..

How do I get PC companion to restore these messages from my PC back up ?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

This is application dependant and many applications are not able to have this type of data accessed by the Backup & Restore function of PC Companion sorry.

Best thing to do, if you can, is grab your whole WhatsApp folder from the root of your old phone and copy it to the root of your new one.

Remove WhatsApp on your new phone and re-install it. On first start it will ask to restore all the messages. 

This is how it has always worked for me, moving from my X10, through my Xperia S and now my Z1C.
