What senzor is located, next to camera

Somebody was clenched my Xperia, very hard. And i see two red dots in angle view.. (senzor on right of Sony logo) I am interested, What name is of that senzor?, what is use of that senzor? Is posible to damage anything with hard sqeez? Thanks!!!
