Waterproof Testing

Waterproof Testing

I'm on my 2nd phone after my first (within having it only a few hours) leaked and died.

Thankfully the shop did an immediate replacement - so I have a new phone. That said - now worried about testing it with water after the first failure.

I contacted the support (as recommended on here multiple times) which basically state - if its faulty send it back. I'm asking for testing ensure its fine, but get told they won't do that unless its faulty.

So I then say I need to test it and get this response:

Hayley:  That isn't something that has been suggested you do so this hasn't been recommended to you Scott.
Hayley:  Sorry, Matt

So thanks Sony - you advertise waterproof, the first wasn't, you won't test if it for me. . won't recommend me testing it myself for return.

Basically leaving me in a position to either just not test it and hope it will be if ever needed. Or test it and be without a phone for weeks.

Awful support - if there is a known problem with earlier models you should be doing a replacement programme.

Do you buy a test drive car at the full rate?

You can get a vacuum test from a sony center that uses air flow to test whether the device is waterproof or not. Try and request them to do this for you.

I'm assuming you're just being pedantic here.

I wasn't testing at the full rate, I didn't submerge to 1.5M for 30 mins. It wasn't for any length of time or at any depth short of just under the surface, but honestly clear to see you are just trolling so I will ignore any future comments from you.

Termite, you are lucky they exchange a new phone for you. Others only got the phone repaired. Nevertheless, the repaired phone was tested by it's owner and was confirmed waterproof, even after repair. The only way to know is to get wet, no other choice.

Kinda resigning myself to that fact. . but not happy to test it and then be without a phone.

Hmmm well if that's the case then i guess you can take the phone to them, show them that the flaps are closed (make a video of this all, just to be on the safe side) then put it under water infront of them and see if it's okay or not. If not, tell them to fix it or replace it or somethin'. Good luck Slightly_smiling_Face
