is xperia x comapcact waterproof? i saw video where he get it in to coca cola and it worked normal after he took it out.
Only the Xperia X Performance is water-resistant
It may be somehow water resistant, but it isn't certified as such. So if it gets wet and it stops working fine we can't ask Sony to have it fixed/replaced.
Hi!
I heard that it's water resistant but Sony won't assure the warranty for any kind of defection made by water.
At least in my region...
Is that really true?
Thank you!
Alex

Who was the Magician, was his name Jesus?
They're water resistant now, not waterproof. I remember the email I got saying to check out the X, and when I did, it said water resistant. I posted a thankyou note to marketing after scalding them with a wall of text a few weeks beforehand.

The Ingress Protection Rating of any device should be used as a guideline and not as a guarantee. IPR's don't take in to account that you've dropped your phone, cracked your screen or set it on fire.
They're usually tested in a controlled environment... and not in hurricane winds and torrential downpour, or on the bottom of the sea floor.
So, sort of yes, in a way - it's really hard to tell if the phone was misused when it comes to water damage.
Perhaps, like any phone really, if you get liquid on it and wipe it clean, or stop any liquid from getting to a port, or too far in, then it'll be fine.
Nonetheless, Sony hasn't made any mention of any water resistence or proofing - So I'll take it for what it is and I wouldn't try to see
I'm looking at picking up an X Compact, but would like it to be waterproof. It looks like Docomo is releasing an IP65/68-certified version of the X Compact next week (SO-02J).
I've read one commenter's opinion that this Docomo version is actually the same model, and that the reason it is being IP65/68 -certified is because Docomo is agreeing to take on the cost of warrantee replacements itself. The commenter is of the opinion that the cost that Sony wanted to avoid was not the waterproofing process during the manufacturing, but the cost of the returns in the rare cases where damage occurs (i think this is along the lines of what yce might have been saying earlier).
I've watched the Pepsi video, and although the X Compact survives, the poster does comment that the speakers and camera have issues after the test. This would seem to run counter to the idea that all X Compacts have been waterproofed during the manufacturing process. On the other hand, it could have just been that Pepsi is a far cry from water.
I'm not in Japan, so if I pick up the Docomo version, I won't be able to use the warrantee if something goes wrong anyway. My question is what opinion above people think is right?
The Japanese version of the X-compact is advertised as waterproof certified, while the rest of the world version is not marketed as such.
I think it may be a bit troublesome to make all the X-compact phones in non-waterproof and then waterproof versions, so my guess is Sony Japan market it as waterproof whereas outside of Japan as not. Since the X series is supposed to be a notch lower than the Z in price, it makes sense for them to avoid having to warrent waterproofing of the X compact which can be costly.
So I think x-compacts are all waterproof but if you buy it outside Japan and if it does get any water damage it's not covered.

I'm not completely sure, but I think that anything but clean water isn't certified by IP65/68. Not even salt water, let alone the corrosive Pepsi or Coke indeed.
Still looking at it it seems pretty sealed to me. The slot for SIM/SD Card has a gasket as well. Just the USB C is flat open, but so it is in many certified water resistant phones.
Thanks for the input!
