Water Proof

I Am Willing To Buy Sony Xperia Z1. But My Friends Are Telling That "Water Proof" Is Not Working. So Do Not Prefer That. Do You Asuure Me That Mobile Will Perform Well After Putting Mobile In Water.

Hi there,

"The real upside to the design is that the Xperia Z1s is fully waterproof. Where as the Xperia Z was rated IP57 for water resistance, the Z1s is rated IP58. That means it can be completely submerged in up to 4.9 feet of freshwater for 30 minutes.

However, to make the Z1 water resistant, Sony had to close most openings (except the headphone jack) with little rubber-coated flaps, and having to pry those open each time you need to charge the device is a bit of a nuisance. Plus, when open, the flaps dangle from a tiny rubber stalk, which is far from a perfect scenario when you're charging the phone on the go — from a portable charger in your backpack, for example. The flaps didn't break during our testing, but we're concerned they might one day if you're not careful."

In any case, you have to be careful and make sure to use the charging dock and bluetooth headsets in order to keep your flaps tightly.

Everything is related to luck and circumstances that surround you. No one can guarantee a 100% water proof phone!

Cheers.

i had a response from sony when asking what will happen with my phone if i close the flaps and put it unde water and it breaks, and they replyed that they don't incourage me to put it under water unless it is really necesary to take a photo under water, then the same 30 minutes/1.5 meters under water crap. this made me never to put it NEAR water and definitely not under water

I can tell you the Z1 IS waterproof. I've taken pictures with it under water three weeks ago and my phone still works, just make sure the flaps are closed. Also look up some vids from youtube about the Z1's waterproof capabilities if you want proof, or go to a Sony shop and ask for a demo.

I am concerned about the water proof feature of the phone. Do I need to cover the headphone jack in some way prior to getting it wet?

1- When you have wifi at home, install a ftp-server (application) on your computer ( example Linux/bsd: vsftpd, Windows: Cerberusftp).

Then use AndFTP app on your Xperia Z1 to transfer your files between comuter & Xperia Z1 (/storage/sdcard1/).

2- Also buy the magnetic charge cable for Xperia Z1.(you can plug it in the original usb ac adapter)

3- Use a bluetooth stereo headset.

If done, then you never need to open any cover of the phone, so no issues with water  resistance.

no...you just have to close the flaps and you are ok, but if anything goes wrong the waranty won't cover it and you will have nothing that you can do, only to sue them

Well.....they are not all waterproof, I put mine in water 3 times and now it's broke. All flaps closed and for extra precaution I placed my fingers over the flaps. All the flaps are still white and not pink, indicating water not getting in through flaps.
