Water ingress

Due to water ingress, my phone's mother board got short-circuited. At Sony authoritative service centre, I have been told that it would cost 80% of original phone cost for repair/replacement. Ingression was very very minimal; so it is shocking to know that the phone is so flimsy and has been damaged to this extent. 

It's just about a month since I bought this phone. Please advise if I can avail warranty and get it repaired at a lower cost.
