I live in canada and i'm also a loyal sony fan.. I took this phone swimming for approxiamately 40 feet from shore to my parents boat! I never dove, never exceeded 1.5m under the water and was in the water for less then 5 mins.. I arrived home 20 mins later to find out that my phone was Dead! The phone did have a red indicator light on the top that flashed and then buzzed/vibrated 3 times that indicates water damage with the phone. The Flaps on my phone were sealed, i checked just before swimming.. litteraly ankle deep checking the flaps before I went in! I bought this phone outright from aliant with a no contract plan. I'm very tech savoy and treat my electronics with care.. I loved this phone and used it for everything and then this happens..This phone is supposed to be waterproof! I feel scammed here , I sent my phone on to sony service center on august 11th, I have yet to recieve or here any information on my phone by august 20th besides work in progress.. I called yesterday august 27th to ask what is going on and got a response saying that my phone numbers and email did not exist and there rma was down! So finally after waiting for an hour on the phone seeing what the mix up was they came back to tell me that the phone was sent to a different service center(New service center) and that was the reason they could not see any of my information provided from my initial service request.. I was told that the supervisor on the floor sent an email to see the status on my phone and what the hold up was.. They then proceeded to tell me to call back around the same time today august 28 5:00pm eastern time.. I called today and here that phone is being sent back and they have no details on the phone? I'm guessing from what i have read on posts and the information from the call center agent that this phone was not fixed due to water damage... Bottom line is i payed top dollar for a phone that fails to do what it is supposed to do and the consumer pays the price for it!! I'm not going to lie i'm probably going to buy a new z2 just because i love the phone so much but it will never see a pool,river,lake or bathtub witch is a shame considering it should be no problem.. It is not worth the time,money and loss of a phone for a month, anyone else have any issues similar please leave a post

I am sorry to hear about this, however please be aware that the water resistance specifically mentions fresh water only. However it looks like you may have only been speaking with the repair agent, if this is the case you would be best to speak with your local  Xperia Care team regarding this.

It is a fresh water river, i was not speaking to any repair agent ever! This was xperia care agent, this was told to me twice that river is fine considering it is fresh water..
