hey so i was in a friends house the other day and my phone ended up sitting in a half full dog bowl for atleast 20 minutes the speaker and camera end was submerged ,i took the phone out of the water and wrapped it in kitchen paper, the speaker and usb port seem t obe working altough the same cant be said fro the screen at this moment in time ,whats the best way to  go about trying to conserve as much functionality as possible as replacing the phone really isnt a option

Well 1st remove the battery and either you or someone else needs to dismantle the phone including heatshields in order to fully dry the phone - Any power where there is trapped water could result in a blown board

As soon as you you notice a wet phone, remove the battery if possible, unfortunately you can't on the SP, but at least turn it off with shut down button under the back cover. Then totally submerge it in dried rice and leave it there for as long as possible,  but for at least 48 hours. This has  worked for me on a Hauwei which fell in hot soapy washing up water and a Samsung that had down a full cycle in the washing machine. That's just Alcohol in a bag and repackaged - alcohol displaces water is non corrosive and dry's quicker

Silica gel will work too. Rice is good to get the majority out, but silica gel should finish the job - just pop your phone in a resealable plastic bag with a sachet of gel and leave it for at least 24 hours.

The main thing is to get the power off and not to switch on again until you are sure there's no more water in there - don't be tempted to have a quick try after a couple of hours.

Just a question. How do you turn off the SP with that off button on the back? That just reboots the phone nomatter how long i keep it pressed(evn 15 secs +), it doesnt put the phone completly off.

Hi My SP wake up after 2 months: fully charged, system start. For 2 months totally unable to charge (red light all the time). BUT display isn't working properly. Looks as dead but it's inverter fail. When i focus spotlight on the display in right degree, then i can see icons etc. But there is no light in lcd display. Check this, maybe You have same situation. Now i'm waiting for help what part I have to change: display, inverter or smtg different maybe
