My mobile is Sony Xperia E1 (single sim) Android Kitkat. Walkman player version 8.4.A.4.4 (which is the latest version, as far as I know).
And here is my problem:
While playing songs in the Walkman player, the playback randomly stops or sound distorts for a split second and then plays normally again. This occures multiple times on a song and is very disturbing.
I have tried to change settings (like turning ClearAudio+ off, or sound enhancements off) but the problem presists.
The problem occured with almost all songs that I have played and it's a totally random phenomenon (ie sometimes occures more frequently during a playback or even sometimes doesn't occure at all).
Please help.
This sounds similar to something that will happen on a Pc where by that the Pc/phone has a lot of things/apps running in the background which because of the way these things work could cause this issue and is caused by the memory been clogged up - Everything you do either on a Pc or phone has to be processed via the memory and if the memory is processing other activity's will cause such symptoms, kind of like saying a delay in the speed to process said information - Does this happen when you have been doing other things prior to opening the Walkman app?
I think that might be the case. Because when I restart the phone (or just turn on the phone) and go straight to walkman, the problem usually doesn't occure.
But my phone is not running a lots of apps in normal times anyway; so the lag in music playback is unacceptable.
Also its not possible or realistic solution to restart my mobile (or close all my running apps like web browser) whenever I want to listen to music.
Also note that I noticed the music distorts for a sec even if I press the lock button while playing or even if accelerometer rotates the Walkman player.
This is a really annoying problem. The device should be able to play music properly under normal usage. 😞
Is there any solution?
I wish I had a magic answer for you but unfortunately I don't - But if you think there is an underlying issue then I'd recommend you either return your device back to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your phone inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Okey. Thanks for your replies anyway. But this is not an individual issue for my device.
I think many ones are having same bad experience with music playback in this device (Xperia E1). I have heard same complain from other people (using E1) and infact I just found out that there are some other posts related to the issue in this forum too.
I know E1 belongs to the lower end of Xperia range, but I can't believe its 1.2 GHz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM is underpowered to handle simple mp3s!
I am a big fan of Sony. And so I think, when they are marketing a music oriented mobile phone they should definitely be more careful not to have this kind of problems.
If it's an technical issue; I hope Sony representatives will take a look at this seriously.
It's definitely not an individual issue, but I was able to fix it on my Z1 compact by rooting and disabling anything that was running and not marked as "do not remove" in the systemcleanup app. Disabling some of them caused the audio to stutter, so probably one of them is the cause.
I haven't had any stutters for two hours now, so it's not the Walkman app itself. I'm going to enable the stuff I disabled one by one and see what will cause the stutters to resurface again. That said, for me they happen about once per hour, so it will take a few days to narrow it down.
P.S.: Disabled services included some shady "anonymous data" and "device usage" processes. It's interesting to see those running even though I explicitly declined to submit anonymous statistics!
