I have upgraded my Xperia SL to new 6.2.B.1.96. There is something wrong with the Walkman/Album application(s). while listening to songs with walkman app if I open Album app then walkman stops playing and to my surprise there is no error message. I have tried other music player(Poweramp) and the result is same as the music just stops. This behavior is observed when there are videos in the album view as shown below
I hope sony rectify this in later updates. Because in ICS i didn't face this problem
I tried this here but the music doesn't stop for me unless i tap on a video so that it starts playing.
Is it when you scroll past a certain video file?
Hi Rickard,
As shown in the screen shot i have lot of videos in the view and the album is regenerating the thubnails everytime i open or scrolling through that section which is causing the walkman to crash. This behaviour i didn't observe in ICS.
How many videos are there in the album view when you tested this? You dont need to open a video just scroll through the videos slowly and walkman stops playing
I tested this with 48 videos and a few hundred pictures. Also tried recording alot of videos so all the thumbs on the screen were videos. All of the videos are however camera videos which is the reason for my question if this happens when you scroll past a certain video file. Also i have no problem with the thumbs.
What happens if you install a file manager and delete the folder DCIM\.thumbnails and then restart the phone?
Hi Rickard,
well your reply made me think about supported and unsupported videos. As shown in the screenshot for some videos tthumbnail is not generated. These videos are not supported by Movies application so it is not able to generate thumbnail and it try to generate it continuously using all resources which causes walkman crash. So i have just deleted these videos. and the problem got solved after sacrifice of those videos
Thanks an i have kudoed you for your effort.
Glad to hear that the problem is solved.
Depending on the format of these videos, Media Go may be able to reencode them for you into a compatible format in case you want to keep them.
thanks i will try it.
