Walkman application stops music playback randomly

Walkman application stops music playback randomly

The Walkman application on my Xperia V stops music playback randomly, which is very annoying because I have to turn on the phone every time and press play again to continue playback. This is clearly a memory issue, because when I'm listening to music, and for example start the email application and Facebook as well, the playback will stop immediately. Even if I dont have any applications open, just the Walkman app, music playback will stop in about an hour. The only background application that I have running all the time is Avast Mobile Security, which seems to be enough for this phone to disturb the music playback. It's funny that we can consider this a quite good phone with multimedia features but it's unable to perform stable music playback. Even 8 years old mobile phones were rock solid in such functions. I don't understand how this can happen with Xperia V.

Have you tried a software repair on your phone? If not, I would recommend that you give it a try before we proceed any further.

Just did that. No change. I've also tried installing Winamp for music playback, but it does the same as the Sony Walkman app. As soon as I have multiple applications open at the same time, the player will stop music playback after a couple of sec. It seems that the phone can not cope with the memory need of multiple apps and it stops the music playback to save some free RAM.

Sounds strange, haven't heard of this before actually. The phone should be able handle both music and other things simultaneously. Is the music stored at the memory card? If it is, it might be the card that causes these issues. Do you have any friend or colleague from who you can borrow another card to see if it's possible to play music from it?

I have the same issue. Music files on sd card (will check later if it still works fine on internal memory). There is enough RAM available. Upgrades have not worked so far.

A suggestion:

Assuming you're using SD card to store your music:  the card may have some corrupted FAT entries or may even be misaligned it it's slot (I had that problem before), creating random problems.

1. Stop Walkman task. Then, in Settings - Storage do an Unmount SD Card

2. Power off your phone

3. Take out the SD card

4. Insert it in a MicroSD-to-USB gadget (something like this one)

5. Put it in your PC and perform a file system check once the drive appears

6. Put it back in your phone, making sure that you carefully insert it in the microsd slot (which is a bit loose and may cause random bad contact)

7. Power on the phone and give it a try to Walkman

I hope this helps.

I have same problem with my Xperia "U" something's definitely wrong with Sony walkman, This device has internal storage not any mounted SD card, and I have tried reset, update, repair.

I have the same issue, no SD card. I've tried everything, from factory resetting to setting my phone to safe mode. It would work for a while and then switch to this issue again. I am using an Xperia Go. Please help??
