Walkman App - Google Play Music

Hi

Is there a way of having the downloaded tracks from Google Play Music on my SD card made visible in the Walkman app ?

Currently nothing is showing in the walkman app and i'm not sure if this is becase there is a restriction on the music files being used in other music apps ?

Cheers

Liam

Once again, no help on the forums, nice try though, Liam.

I'm really regretting buying an Android, so many issues, so little help.

There must be a way to get music from google play to the walkman app.  That link at least provided a suggestion, however it hasn't worked for me.

Any other suggestions?  Surely I'm missing something simple and obvious?  It can't really be this hard, can it?

Nathan.

I just got z3, transferred all my music from old phone using xperia transfer and both apps see my mp3s fine in XperiaTranfer/Music directory. Both apps also see fine those few preinstalled songs in /Music directory.

So, I assume that those apps scan either whole filesystem or certain directories for music. Could it be that ie. downloaded (purchased?) music from Google has different format or protection?

Hi guys, greetings from Brazil. It appears that recently there have been some changes on how Google Play Music stores their files on Android handsets. For a moment the folder on which Google placed content was located at /android/data/com.google.android.music/files, with some randomly name.MP3, much like how their movie content is stored as well. Now it appears that the whole content is placed at /data/data/com.google.android.music, or some similar folder located inside this /data folder, which is not accessible by the user, unless the device is rooted or something like that. I'm new to the Android system as well. But I happened to go through this situation. I downloaded a song in a month and download an album like 4 days ago and I noticed these diferences. Seems that the whole thing about cloud storage is not appealing to all people, especially when you want to make sure that you own the content you purchased. Alternatively, although this is an old solution, you can visit Google Play Music from your browser, download the music to your computer and then transfer to the user's music folder on your device. Click the album you have purchased; next to "start instant mix" there's a menu button where you can perform some actions, including the "Download Album". The files are then placed inside the User's Download directory on the computer. And don't worry, the files on Play are in MP3 (320KBPS) format. Using the browser you can download the album twice. If you use the Google Music Manager for desktop it seems you can download and redownload as much as you want. Hope this helps. Peace, Edu.

Thank you for this solutions. Worked for me.

But I find it unbelievable that Android doesn't download a music directly to the phone when you buy it on Google Play!!

I really hope they solve solve this asap.

Rui, Glad that the provided suggestions worked for you.
And yes, the Google Play does not download music and movies automatically to your device, unless you do this through a menu. But you can send them feedback in this regard, and request this feature as an option. Go to This link and make your voice heard.
Peace,
Edu.
