My phone has developed a fault on sending texts and Orange are sending me a new phone body 2moro.
I have saved my contacts to my memory card but need to know how to locate them once card is in new phone body. Does it happen automatically?
Sorry if this sounds simple but have all my biz on this phone.

No, it doesn't happen automatically.Once you put the memory card in your new phone go to: Main menu--Contacts--(Highlight) New Contact--Options--Advanced--Restore from m.card--highlight and select this.
Thanks Chris - that sort of worked but it only saved contacts as far as S.
I also saved my incoming texts to the card as well but can't see how to get those back into the new phone.
I keep seeing references on this site to a USB port on the phone but I can't find it - any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Perhaps there's insufficient space on the memory card, but if you still have your old phone, sync it to My Phone Explorer (MPE) via USB cable,or via Bluetooth to the PC, download your phone memory contacts (it also reads your SIM contacts, but not memory card contacts), which you can then transfer to your new phone: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php
You can also use this application to transfer your messages between phones, but only from phone memory. The sms on the memory card can only be read on the old phone, so you need to move them to the phone memory in the old phone and then sync it to MPE.
So what's your question regarding the USB port?
Thanks again.
Unfortunately old phone was taken simutaneously with delivery of new so texts are lost now.
Saving contacts - I have a 4 gb card in that phone and it is nowhere near full.
USB - I can't find the port on the 995W. Death of old phone has caused real mess......

What I meant was insufficient space in terms of the pre-alocated space on the card specifically for contacts--this is a possibility if you have a lot of contacts.
The USB port on the W995 is the same fast port connector which you use for the mains charger--it doesn't have a micro-USB port, if that's what you were thinking.
I had about 120 contacts on phone so have lost a small %. I may be able to get some off another old phone and my bill.
Yes, I was thinking phone had micro usb located somewhere - that would be too easy!
Must say that new W995 is much faster than old one and better reception and now I have found this site I am very happy.
Thanks again.

No problem.Yes, 120 contacts should all have been saved on the memory card--perhaps the card is corrupt and in need of formatting, but if all the rest of its data is intact and can be read on the phone, then there's no need to worry. It's safer to also have a back up on My Phone Explorer or PC Companion, just in case.
