Shows in user manual IM and Google Maps, niether are listed on phone is this a fault in manual or do then need to be downloaded
Sounds like your phone is locked into and its software has been modified, by a particular network.Otherwise you need to update the software, the generic version of which should include Google Maps and IM.
once i got the laterst version from sony ericsson same thing had to download google maps and im appears as conversations under message service
So is your phone locked into a network?
dont think so came direct from o2 via sony ericsson once i started it went tho and found no google maps so conected it to pc, started update said had latest softwear but still reinstalled it, restarted phone same no google maps untill i downloaded it but now under applications not location, can plug any sim in apart from 3 so not locked to O2, just pluged in an Orange sim same no google maps so either O2 setting takes out google as never got orange setting as did not want to upset phone
The lack of Google Maps in the software is exactly was I have read in another forum where it was removed by the network.
Even though O2 say they dont change the op system looks like you could be right as O2 told me IM now shows as conversations under messages, but they wont admit to removing google maps, but not sure if i can put it under Location services, if posible would love to know how, Thank you.

In order for Google Maps to be under the Location services menu, you first have to debrand the phone and then it can be updated with the generic software.Your phone may also be locked into the O2 network; try putting a SIM card in from a different operator to see if the phone will accept it or not.In any case, follow the Omnius link above which will allow you to debrand, unlock and re-update your phone with the generic software. Let me know the results.
