VZW xperia play problems, Plz help

Ok, I'll start off with a little history.  I have been a long time customer with AT&T, and have had no problem with any service in the past, however I have recently moved to an area where AT&T coverage areas are few and far between.  I ended up having to switch to verizon, which coverage wise i must say is loads better, however I'm having a problem with the verizon version of the xperia play.

The last phone i had through AT&T was the xperia x10a, which i must say was a very nice phone, after switching to verizon and no longer using the x10a i decided to have a little bit of fun with it, i decided to debrand it (remove all the AT&T junk, I believe thats reffered to as debranding).  I thought it would be a long and dangerous process to do, however i used wotanclient and it was incredibly easy, fast, and free.  This is what began my "problem" with the xperia play.

I decided  that with the xperia play I would remove all of the crappy verizon junk that came pre-installed on the phone, and make the phone be how sony planned it to be when they designed it, but it seems it can't be done, or at least i havent been able to find a way to do it.

Specifications -

sony ericsson xperia play r800x

android version 2.3.3

Phone is rooted

Ok, I've seen debrand options for every version except the r800x, and I even saw a few posts where a user flashed UK firmware on a r800x model, which "worked", however left many features of the phone unusable, and even though another user claims to have been able to fix the problems, that cannot be verified, not to mention it seems way far beyond my capabilities.

I decided then to just root my phone, then uninstall all of the verizon junk that came on the phone, but that raised a huge question in my mind.

Should I, Is It Safe?

I've been scouring the internet for over a week now about that and from what i found out, it is safe to uninstall alot of programs from the phone, without affecting the performance negatively.  However I have seen a few posts people put up about being unable to update the phone if the software is uninstalled.

So my question, or questions, are:

First, is there a proper way to debrand my xperia play r800x, and if not will (could) there eventually be a way.

Secondly, as far a flashing my phone to a U.K. version firmware, can anyone confirm that this can properly be done, without losing any functions of the phone. and if so point me to any information as to how to properly do this.

Thirdly, I have rooted my phone, but am scared to actually remove any of the programs that I had origionally wanted to remove.  Can anyone either give me any information about this.

Not to be rude to anyone trying to help, however I have read alot of things online about how something is possible to do, and then theres scores of people responding saying that it did not work for them.  So I am mainly looking for someone that has already done the things that I am looking to do, not someone that has seen something online and has not done it themselves to confirm whether or not it works properly.

As of right know i have decided just to leave my phone be and put up with the lag and flaws that come with the verizon software, however eagerly await making my phone how sony origionally designed it to be.

Many thanks in advance for any help or information anyone can give me.

And sorry for making this so large, I just wanted to make sure i explained everything properly.

your Xperia play can't work with Verizon, AT&T network and Tmobile are GSM and Verizon is CDMA, therefore you can't use the phone with them

The best way to debrand is with Flashtool

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/108961#108961

by flashing the "i" version to your "a" play you won't lose any 3G connection with AT&T, even if you go to

settings -> about phone -> Model number r800i

might change but since you are not modifying the hardware it will work as a r800a

make a list of the apps you want to remove and we'll tell you if it's safe to do so

I bought my xperia play from verizon, I understand what you mean, verizon does not use sim cards where as other phone companies do, but I'm not trying to use it on a different company, i'm just trying to put generic firmware on it, and lose all the verizon software

you can see the step by step guide on how to debrand, it might be worth it, there are so many Verizon users that are stuck 2 updates behind. Up to you Slightly_smiling_Face

I appreciate the link, however i do have one concern about that tool, the model that i have is neither the r800a nor r800i, i have the r800x.  from what i see on that topic it will only work for the a or the i, not the x.

but thanks anyway

yes that's the thing, if you want to risk it and either flash the "a" american version or "i" global/european firmware on your phone, and it works then you will open the doors to many many other users, but there's always a risk that it might kill your phone, or maybe not kill your phone but you might have to send it to verizon to get it fixed. your call

I would love to debrand the xperia play, I just havent found anything on doing that to a r800x version of the play.

You'd think sony would "leak" a generic firmware for it for fans of sony, but haters of verizon, to be able to use.

that will be really awesome for vrz users but I highly doubt it
