Does any of you Sony employees know if Sony is going to fix Z1C's low audio volume on headphones? I'd realy like to know because if not I'm able to return Z1C to shop in a few days from now. I'm really dissapointed when I compare Z1C to my former iPhone. I noticed sites with instructions how to root the phone and use volume mod but I'd rather not to loose my guarantee. Please write what you know/what you can tell.

Go outside, use a bus or a train. It's a noisy world out there...
any resolution to this? I use Tune in Radio.
no way I can hear this on my bike at 50 mph.
Also having this problem.
Its so stupid, I have had to resort to carrying a seperate music player to the gym.
Really frustrating for an other enjoyable phone, beginning to get tempted to go back to iPhones as I listen to a lot of music.
The same in my two Z1 compact
The level on the 3.5 jack is too low, also using an efficent hearphone is too low.
It is a big limit, SONY please provide URGENTLY with a firmware update!!!
PS really simple change, if done by SONY

I recently got my phone, I ordered online, and recived it two days ago,
It has the latest upgrades and KitKat 4.4.4.
The volume on the headphones is seriously poor, my previous phone was an iphone and had a normal volume range.
I assumed from the high quality reviews and the fact that it is a Sony handset would mean a decent music player as well as a good phone.
I would like to state now that if this isn't sorted, I will never buy another Sony product, I'm a musician and make and listen to a lot of music over various sources, I own many sets of headphones, three of which are Sony products.
This is the worst I have ever experienced and now I'm tied into a contract where I have to use this thing for over a year
UP
Spent 70€ for a better Sennheiser earphone, stronger but not enough....nobody takes care about this issue?
My wife's Z3 Compact sonds 10 times stronger!
Please Sony, for christ sake.. You do nothing about this, but then you don't recommend to use sound boosters.. So what are we gonna do? Get phones from other brands to enjoy our music without background noises like in public transportation, car, motorcycle etc..?
I've just got a z1 compact and within 2 days I had found this thread. Tells you all you need to know !
My experience is that headphones DO make a difference.
I have a couple of sets of in-ear (cambridge audio and akg) with similar specs (16ohm res and about 100db sensitivity). They are poor with low volume and weak sound. These both worked fine with an iphone.
I have a set of akg451 on-ear phones with 32ohm res and 136db sensitivity. These work really well - good volume and excellent overall sound.
The trouble is that for commuting I don't want to use big phones with so-so noise insulation.
Not wishing to root, I'm not going to tweak the firmware.
I've ordered a portable headphone amp for £20 on the grounds that I can't be trying to find a decently priced set of in-ear phones with the correct combination of impedence and sensitivity on a trial and error basis. The amp will allow me to use existing phones and replace them when I loose/break them in the course of the day to day wear and tear that commuting brings.
It would be interesting to know what the output impedance of the headphone jack is. Apparently sony has a history of dodgy impedance values which makes certain headphones very hard to drive. A fairly lenghy trawl of the web revealed nothing. Anyone ?
