Volume control not working with Klipsch in-line headphones

I have a pair of Klipsch Image One headphones that have an in-line control for volume up/down, and a button that does play/pause/skip forward/skip back. It worked perfectly with the iPhone, but with the Xperia SP only the pause/play command works. Why is this? Is there something special for in-line controls and how they respond to iPhones vs Android phones? At least pause works, but really volume controls should work as well, so that's a bit disappointing...

The headset might require a higher voltage then the phone can deliver. If that's the case you might experience some incampablity issues.

Also it can be that the headset doesn't send the right commands for your Xperia phone.

i have the same problem, with the provided headphones, no chanche to lower down the volume during callings using the headphones, same thing on the speakerphone
