Hi all,
I noticed such an issue in my Z5.
Sometimes when changing the volume of the phone (no matter up or down) it happens that this small dropdown icon does not appear. You know, the one that you should be able to click and then select what type of sound you want to adjust:
1. the phone volume,
2. entertainment volume (music, games, videos etc.),
3. alarm volume
I am not sure why it happens randomly, but it was the same on previous versions of software as well. I am on 32.2.A.0.253 currently.
Unfortunately I am not able to make a screenshot of it as only you are trying to make a screenshot this function (volume) is hiding. Hence I decided to recod my screen which I will post here soon if there is such an option to show it here. Are you experiencing it sometimes as well? I do not know the reason why it happens randomly.
Thank you,
@azzido hi, do you mean when you press the side volume up/down button on the phone...then the drop down button appears letting you choose
As it has happened before on your phone on other software it could be a 3rd party app interferring with the function, but as it happens randomly i'm not sure if running your phone in Safe Mode would help but you could try running it like this for a while to see.
Also it could be a sticky volume up/down button on the actual handset.....

Hi dandy63, yes I mean when I am using the volume rock on the side of the phone.
Yes, I agree this can be caused my any other 3rd party app, I was using Facebook's Messanger to be honest.
But the problem is I closed this app / went back to original screen and tried to adjust the volume then = this was the moment when it happened.
I assume no matter I am in other app or on a main screen this little dropdown should be always available to me.
I also noticed that starting Sony's stock "Telephone" app is somehow fixing it.
I mean the small dropdown icon appears again
@azzido in that case in my opinion i would try running your phone in Safe Mode for a while...even a day if possible....just to see if the problem is still there, if it runs perfectly then a 3rd party app is somehow interferring with the function, then the fun begins trying to source what 3rd Party App it is

I noticed it happens in many apps.
The issue is it is messing up Sony's stock and fundamental functionality as I mentioned even after closing app, that's why the issue needs to be addressed. I do not remember this kind of issue happening on my older Sony phones 😕
Unfortunately I do not know how to access safe mode
@azzido follow the instructions here http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008
