Vivaz - blank screen, please help!

Firstly, if you are reading this with the aim of telling me to "re-install the software with SEUS and a master reset" then just don't bother, that was the first thing i did.

A while ago the screen on my Vivaz went blank, i know the phone is working because it still makes sound and vibrates when i get a text or a call. I can't afford to send it to sony for repair and have heard nothing good about the repair service so am really not keen on sending it to them just so they can say it can't be fixed then charge me for the privilage. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? There has been no physical damage to the phone and for a while was working occasionally - mainly when the battery was removed for a couple hours then put back in. It did work for a day after a friend took it apart and cleaned it but now there is just nothing. I'm not sure if replacing the screen would do anything? Please can someone suggest something helpfull??!! I love this phone! (and funnily enough, my backup phone - w760 has just died too!)

Sorry today but we really have no other suggestion at this point but if possible to bring the phone in to a service center. We understand that you don't want to do it but if a master reset and re-installing the software didn't help then there is only one option that we could suggest.

So basically then you could get rid of this whole forum and just have a page with a message telling everyone that no matter the problem do a reset and re-install the software. Sony really are awful for customer service! When i called about the repair at first O2 told me to go to sony who then tell me that even if they can't fix the phone they are going to charge me for looking at it, even though the phone was only 6 months old when the problem started! Thats shocking, i'm now stuck paying for an 18 month contract and don't have a phone. Looks like after 10 years of sonys i will be going elsewhere
