Hello!
I have Xperia ZL (firmware 10.3.1.A.0.244).
As antivirus I use Avira Free Android Security.
Recently I was notified about WALKMAN application update from UpdateCenter. It reports new version - 7.12.A.0.0.
I installed this new version:
If I launch Avira antivirus scanner I get the warning message about new WALKMAN (com.sonyericsson.music) application - it detects as Android-Malware "Android/Boqx.A.24":
I contacted Avira and said them about possibly false positive, but they continue to detect WALKMAN as malware.
They found malware in '00000051_SemcMusic.apk/classes.dex' (this file was delivered by UpdateCenter from update.sonyericsson.com). VirusTotal also detects WALKMAN apk as malware (only by Avira).
Sony developers, can you explain this situation?
VirusTotal reports, that VIPRE antivirus also detects WALKMAN app as malware named Trojan.AndroidOS.Generic.A.
Excellent:smileyalert:
Is it new Sony DRM Trojan/Rootkit?
Or is it a false positive of two independent antivirus vendors?
I still need explanation from official Sony developers.
VirusTotal continue to detect new WALKMAN as malware.
Is it any chance to listen something from Sony developers?
This accident does not make good reputation of Sony brand.
Developers should explain situation and/or contact virus laboratories for remove WALKMAN from threat list.
