Video stops randomly while recording

Hello there,
I have problems recording short videos. While recording the video stops randomly, then restarts recording. All my videos therefore have small "frozen pictures" in them. What can I do to solve the problem?

Where are you saving the videos? internal storage or an SD card?

You could attempt clearing the camera app data to see if this is related or not.

Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Camera > Clear Data

I am saving all videos on internal storage space and transfer them to SD from time to time.

I have never heard of or tried "safe mode". Will I lose any saved contents by going on safe mode? What is it actually for?

What will happen if I clear the camera app? Will I lose all my pictures and videos?

I should say that I have currently over 1200 pictures and videos on my phone. Could this be related to the problem?

If you have apps on the SD card > move them back to the internal storage. 

It will disable third party apps, which will help narrow down the problem.

clearing camera apps won't delete any pictures, videos, etc. 

Settings > storage > how much available storage do you have?

No, I don't have any apps on the SD card, just pictures and short videos.

Did you boot in safe mode yet?

I have to admit I tried to and die not find a way to do it. When pressing the power button I get the following options:

Power off
Restart
Screenshot
Record screen

No safe mode option there...

I tried switching off the phone and restart it while holding the volume key down after I read that this should help booting in safe mode but it didn't work out.

Sorry, I'm so bad at this technical stuff...

Whenever you get those options > long press on power off > you will get another option
