Right.
I bought an Xperia X10 at the carphone warehouse 4 months ago for £150 in a clearence sale.
Well pleased with it, at least so I thought.
Upgraded it to the new system & things have not been right since.
After upgrading - I was getting ready to go on holiday & thus wanted to put some comedy & music videos on it. But after I had installed the new operating system, I connected the phone to computer (as before) & the folders in which to put specific things - like music or video were not there.
So I spoke to some on SE help (who were USELESS, may as well have talked to my cat) and they said that where you would normally drag & drop files from (My Computer) to phone - just create new folders to put the videos in.
I did that & it didn't work. The phone couldn't find the folder files I created. (like "videos")
She said if that didn't work, go to app store and get another video player. Don't see why I should when I prefer the SE video player.
So after reinstalling my phone 20 times so far, it still isn't working & it's driving me nuts.
My friend who has the same phone said he had the same problem & after reinstalling the software recently, he was videoing some mates at a pub on a night out & when he first used the video recorder after the install, when he was watching them at home - the phone itself said "which video player do you want to use - default - or- other"
He set it to defualt.
I have done that & that was right, but the folders in which to put the videos (music & comedy stuff) are still not there.
Even if you use a different video player - where are the files on your phone???
The older software was easy peasy.
When connecting the phone to the computer, you had.
video folder
music files folder
dcim(camera i think) folder
+ others.
I put Snoop Dogg in the music - opened the X10 & all the albums were found, were there, looked neat & worked.
I put Blackadder in the video folder - opened the X10, went to video player & they were all there. smart, in order & ready to play.
No such luck with this. They are not there. Can't find them. Doesn't work.
Also, when i take photos, they are not now automatically going over to My Media. (I'm guessing it is the same kind of issue with the music & video)
Other question:
How dio you know if you have an X10 or X10i ?
How do you know what software (2.3 or 2.3.3) is currently on your phone?
Is it possible to get your phone to how it was purchased from the shop?
I want to love this phone & was well on my way, but the new 2.3 or 2.3.3 whatever it is - is seriously testing my patience.
Thanks people.
on the homescreen press the MENU button -> Settings -> scroll down tap on About Phone -> scroll down and check
model number it shoudl be either X10a or X10i
Android Version either 2.1 update 1 or 1.6 or 2.3.3
Build number
Thanks will try that in a sec.
What about the other main part of my message mate?
[edit]
So it's:
x10i
2.3.3
the included video player it's not the best video player, try
MOBO player
it's amazing and it's compatible with most formats, which lead me to the next point, even if you transfered the videos, that doesn't mean that they are compatible with the preloaded video player.
there seems to be an issue or bug with your phone, lets try the basic
go to
settings -> applications -> manage applications -> All -> music -> clear everything do the same to the camera, video player and gallery.
if the problem persists backup everything and then repair your phone with Update Service or PC companion but make sure that you take out both the SIM and SD cards
Make sure you backup everything

Thing is, before I upgraded, they all worked fine.
Just was reading up & I saw this:
http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/48880#48880
Suze: Are you now using a file manager? If you are in the DCIM (/sdcard/DCIM) file then you need to go back up a level to the root of the SD card and then scroll through til you find the Video file. The various programmes are preset to look in certain files so I am thinking that the Video icon on the application drawer only looks in the Video file on the SD card.
I think that there is what I need to do, but I just don't understand the techy stuff.
you can always downgrade to 2.1 but you will lose a lot of the advantages on having Android 2.3.3 like moving your apps 2 SD
ok what suze suggested was to do the following
install a file manager like this
OI file manager
open OI file manager -> look for a folder called "----------" (the name of the folder depends on many factors, did you mounted your SD card to your computer and then you transferred the music to the MUSIC folder on your SD card, if yes then
once you open OI File Manager scrolled down until you see the Music Folder
So when you update, you take out both the sim card & memory card???
