I want to know what software I can use to turn the at&t Xperia X10 into a pc modem. Right now,I'm using PC Suite with my current SE phones (the z750a is connected with 3G) and I would like to know if I can continue using this software. at&t says the phone is n/a for being a computer modem;that is why I need to know this info,since I travel and sometimes not close to a hotspot. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _Thank you for your time and effort into responding to this post.
hi,
i used to work for att before..the info you got was correct...
it can not be turned into a modem however, att provides your att email address (primary member id) that will allow you to use
internet of course using your 3g connection...
use PdaNet , it is free. Download from market. This si for X10.
Download another version for your PC. Google for PdaNet, you find it
works on USB cable ONLY.:smileyhappy:
Do you know if the PC Suite will allow me to use the phone as a modem? They recommend using Sony Ericsson PC Suite to sync contact and calender with Outlook, which is what I do with my current phones (C905a,Z750a and W580a). Of course, you folllow the instructions for setup, which is simple. Thank you for your answer,I apprciate.
Thank you for your reply,I will check it out. I appreciate your answer for my post, since this is THE phone that I want!! There is another app on the marketplace that I checked out on android's site, will post another question for you when I get the info. Again, thank you!
This is the app I saw in the Android Marketplace. But thank you anyway. I'm just curious if PC Suite and be used;on at&t's site in the tutorials, the say to use PC Suite to sync and backup calender and contact with Outlook and pc.
PC Suite doesn't seem to recognize the X10, at least this was the case in my experience, which was too bad as it worked pretty well with my W580i. You have to use PC Companion to basically do the same thing. Not sure about syncing with Outlook though as I don't use Outlook.
You know,if you go to at&t's site,it looks like the Xperia X10 is connected to PC Suite;check it out. This really sucks, although I now know there are alternatives that I can use via Android Marketplace. Thank you for the reply, for I would have kept thinking that I could do this via at&t.
You are right;the software (PC Suite) is not compatible with the Xperia X10. So if I get this phone, how can I sync with the contacts and bookmarks in my pc? It is a Sony Vaio SZ series using XP SP3.
You can use SE Sync but that sync's your contacts, etc. on the SE website. SE Sync can be found in the phone settings and can be setup within the PC Companion software. Media Go is what I use to back up my photos, video, etc. on my PC. For my contacts and such, I usually just back them up to my SD card and then I use the 'file manager' within the PC Companion software to put the backup on my PC. I have a VAIO FW series running Windows 7 64-bit. Hope this helps!
