user experience with xperia go?

so my last phone was an x10 mini and it was a very durable phone. it flew out of a moving car and was dropped into liquids more than once. it always booted back up. I also liked that the plastic digitizer was shatter proof. it finally died on me when I fell down the stairs with it in my hand and it took the brunt of thr fall, cracking the LCD inside.

I was always lanned on relacing it with an xperia active, since the active is basically a mini with a integrated otter box. problem is, they never sent an update to Ice cream sandwich for the active like they said they where going to eventually when I got the mini as an in between phone.

so now not only are actives hard to find, but they are also stuck on GB. I work in electronics sales and I'm very loyal to sony, but it's hard to say sony is better than samsung when my hardware can't compete. I also require a compact hone aside from it also being "life proof"

the go was suggested to me and on the surface I really like what I see, but then I read user comments and problem threads and it seems like a pretty faulty device....

What to do?

I also just realized the go comes in two varieties, ST27a (international dual band) and a cheaper ST27i single band that will only work in europe and with t-mobile in the us.

which varient have eople been having issues with? the reviews by owners seem to be rather bipolar, and this would seem to fit perfectly with there being two different versions of the same device...

I would stay away from Sony and go for another brand. If you want me to clarify why i can, but thats just waste of breath, STAY AWAY FROM SONY!

I honestly do not recommend xGo with your expectations. I washed my phone, dipped my phone a lot of times, it also fell a lot of times. But one day when I was changing my pants, my phone slipped and fall lets say 12 inches from the ground. and poof display's broken Slightly_smiling_Face

so is there a reletively recent phone who's screen won't shatter if dropped right? I thought pretty much all phones moved away from plastic screens because of scratch resistance? a glass/mineral glass screen is always subject to shattering, right?

My first Android phone was an X10 Mini and I then switched to Xperia Mini. I loved both these phones since I think they were remarkably powerful for their size. However, the Xperia Mini has very little storage space and you cannot have many apps anymore since the size of the apps are growing - even with en external SD card, it is not possible since quite a lot gets stored locally anyway. I therefore went for the Xperia Go, but completely regret it. As you could see, one of the busiest threads here is about the inability to answer phone calls. I have this problem, and for that reason it is not worth calling a phone. I also have problems with lag in general, inaccurate and slow GPS (much, much worse than X10 Mini and Xperia Mini), Spotify usually doesn't start when I need it, inaccurate (if working, not always) compass - you name it. Actually, Sony made a bit of the same mistake for Xperia Mini as they seem to have made here: releasing an updated Android version that is not fully tested and then not caring to fix even the most urgent issues. I am a bit tempted to buy an Xperia Z compact, but for the reason mentioned, about how Android updates are managed, I should not do the same mistake again to buy a Sony phone. Sony just doesn't seem to care about the product lifecycle for more than 1 or 2 years, and that is unacceptable in my opinion.
