I've sent the phone to Sony for repair and it passed it checks. It came back with the same software faults AND the USB port flap still pops open on it's own and according to Sony it passed it's checks. No idea what to do anymore?!?!
The Port cover/flap thing on the bottom left of the phone that covers the SIM card and keeps the phone waterproof keeps popping open on its own. I mean literally every time I push it closed, it falls open again within a couple of minutes. At first i thought it was that pull out FCC statement thing that was pushing it open but I've pushed that right in and am still getting the same problem. I've pushed the cover down hard, tried sliding my thumb along it to make sure it's completely sealed but no use. The phone is less than 2 weeks old so this is clearly a faulty cover or design flaw. Anyone else experiencing this or even better, have a fix?
Do you close the part with the plastic/cord first then the other end.
I have the same problem - my device for sure does not comply to the IP68 rating! I have a suspicion that the error is caused by a label sitting in the SIM compartment, which may have been left int he device from the Manufacturing unit. Im actually able to pull the label out from the devide until it extends approx. 2 inches out! I don't want to pull it out completely as I'm not sure if it is in there intentionally, but I'm sure my device would be able to remain IP68 sealed if it wasn't there.
That's actually supposed to be there. Sony intentionally put it there so it is easier to identify the device's information and has nothing to do with your waterproof capability. If you're worried about putting it in water then test the pressure.
1) close the flaps
2) dial *#*#7378423#*#*
3) service tests/pressure sensor
4) Place it on a flat surface.
5) press on the screen with your finger, the pressure should rise
6) Open a flap, press, pressure should NOT rise like the previous step with the flaps closed.
7) If pressure rises when a flap is open, do NOT put it in water and take it to your local Sony service center.
I have the same problem from the moment I open the box. I decided to not use it and I will return the product as I can not be bother to deal with such basic failure.
I also have this problem with my brand new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact 😕
- The unit is almost only 2 weeks old, but I have just been in the store where I did buy it, and have now being told that it is being sent to Sony to get fixed. So hopefully then I get it back, I don't see this problem anymore
I do however think, that Sony should try to look into this problem, so no customers will get a faillure in their devices anymore, as being described. I have just been unlucky in this accidentally problem. Besides that, I'am very happy for this top modern Android phone from Sony. Keep up the good work Sony!

I have had my Z3 for 4 days, pulled it out of my bag and the flap to the charging port and SD card was gone. Completely fell off and I don't know when or how. I have been told I cannot get a replacement phone because the piece is missing and it would have to be sent away for repair which means I would have no phone for weeks AND Sony will charge me a stupid amount for it to be replaced. It's clearly a design flaw and should be covered by warranty. It's a 4 day old phone that cost me $600 yet according to Sony I'm not entitled to any form of decent service or help
