Hi,
I'm trying to change the MTP/MSC connection on my phone because when I plug it with the PC (and with Sony PC Companion installed), the phone isn't detected (windows says: device not recognized) but it only charge the battery.
I have called the Xperia assistance (italian ones) and they have said me that I have to change the type of connection from MTP to MSC (or viceversa I don't remember).
They have said that I can change the type of connection under Settings > Xperia™ > USB Connectivity > USB connection mode.
But I can't find this USB connection mode.
So, how can I solve my problem?
For the connection problem I have tried to:

I have noticed this thing: Before 4.1.2 Android update, I was able to connect, using an OTA cable, an USB pen drive to my phone. Now, with android 4.1.2, the USB pen drive isn't detected.
Here some specifics about my phone:
Model Number: LT26i
Android version: 4.1.2
Build Number: 6.2.B.1.96
Here some specifics about my PC:
SO: Windows 7 enterprise 64 bit
Hi, see if the following link helps, http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/USB-connection-problems/m-p/348074#U348074
Thanks for the fast replay and sorry for my slow replay
I've tried all the things reported in that article but nothing
1)I can't find any MTPapp (Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > MTPapp), so I can't clear the data in MTPapp
2)I've tried the last step (going into device manager) but the phone is still recognized as "unknown device" even pointing at driver's folder of PCC
Now I don't know what to do, what can I try?
Suggest you try with another PC.
I've tried with a new laptop that I've but nothing, it's always says "unknow device"
Hi same problem here, for the moment I use airdroid to tranfert files but it's slower than usb :(.
If I find something new i'll post it here.
See if the following works ....
Go to Device Manager on your computer, Scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Look for an MTP Device: Media Device, Unknown Device or any other reference to your phone. Click on this entry and choose "Uninstall" whilst leaving the device connected.
Wait a few minutes, and the computer will reinstall the drivers for the device.
Hey thanks for the support butI think that the problem is relative to the phone and not to the PC
Maybe, but you wouldn't know until you try it.
Not sure if a factory reset will help ....
