updating with Sony Update service

Hi, 

I'm trying to update my phone to jelly bean but when I run the Sony updater, I cant find my phone model (Experia P LT22i)

The L, the Z, the A are all there but not the P.

Any ideas?

A word of warning - the 4.3 update seems to have problems.

I updated bothe my Wife''s Z and my Z1 and the both now have major problems.

odd that but I would like the 4.1 update at least. I'm still running 4.0

I was a bit confused as I downloaded the lates manual and thats for 4.1, I was wondering whey there were differences.

I have attached a screenshot of the updater, showing no option to update the "P"

You should be able to find Xperia P in Update Service, the phone is not sorted in alphabetical order. Try to use the picklist in the upper right corner to go directly to Xperia P. 

If you still can't find it you can try to reinstall the program or you can select Xperia S as model. The connections instructions is the same and the software will recognize which model you have and install the proper software. In other words, you can't end up with the wrong software.

I suggest you run SUS in compatibility mode for W7.

Tried that of course, it's not showing in the drop down menu either.

Have already tried uninstalling the software and re downloading.

Still the P or the S are not showing.

ok, the saga continues......

Ive run the software on a Windows 7 machine and my phone showed up!

I followed the instructions and it says my phone has the latest software. It does give an option to reinstall it if there is a problem but this will wipe my phone for no dammed reason.

Ive done a backup but I dont really want to go down that road unless I can be sure of the update.

What update do you want to install?There is no update for P for about 1 year almost.

as I said above, 4.1, mine is running 4.0

I got a reply from Sony support:

Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.

We can confirm that the Sony Xperia P is planned to receive an update to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version.

We can confirm that the roll out for the Sony Xperia P has begun and is currently on going. Availability and timings will vary depending on region and network operator approval. Unfortunately we don’t have any exact dates as to when each handset will be updated however the phone itself should notify you once the update has reached it.

Seems a long time to wait for jelly bean! Its been out ages.

Xperia P has JB for almost one year(march or april).
