updated and now cannot access memory card??

Hello all,

Have updated my x10 and it now will not reconise I have a memory card installed, I have turned it off and on and removed memory card several times, not sure what to do, I only updated as my phone every week would stop working without me knowing ie it would appear fine BUT not receive texts or calls until it had been turned off and back on but you would know this until you realise your phone was quiet or being contacted via a different means..

Sorry if this has beeen answered but i did look at the posts and tried to uninstall the update but couldnt find that on my phone??

I would have taken my memory card out but it insisted on leaving a memory card in the phone

Well I have tried the Sony update service as reconmendid and it still will not reconise my sd card, its a proper Sony supplied 8gb memory card and was working fine until this stupid update, it really annoys me that you have to mess around updating your phone only to have this happen!!!

So now I will have to go out and purchase a device to plug the tiny card into as it will not fit any of the slots on my Sony laptop, and this was after the update said it will not AFFECT my memory card!!!

There should be a specific card supplied with a phone that you have to update, for the sole purpose to use when updating so you do not damage your own memory card !!

It certainly must be frustrating.

Ok when you have purchased the card reader, remove the SD card and copy the contents to somewhere in your PC. Then format the memory card using the FAT32 option.  Then you can also transfer back the files that you backed up to the newly formatted SD card.

Hopefully when you put it back into the phone, it recognise the card

I have purchased a card reader and the memory card works on my laptop, saved memory and then tried formatting card and it still will not reconise my memory card when put back into my mobile!!

Have tried different memory cards and it works fine, so this update has cost me a card reader that will be used this once, and now I have to purchase a new 8gb memory card and then try to put all of my pictures videos etc onto the new card!! And to be honest I have better ways to spend my time, trawling the net looking for help on fixing a non consumer fault problem!!

And all of this because you have to update your phone - so who is at fault??

Not too impressed with my first Sony mobile, I willl be returning to Nokia just as soon as my contract is due for renewal.

THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH YOUR PHONE AS WELL AS YOUR MEMORY CARD.........YOU JUST DIDNT UPGRADED CORRECTLY.........THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM

1-install xrecovery

2-reboot your device to open recovery menu

3-wipe cache,wipe sd card cache  but remember to make a backup of your data.

4-factory reset your mobile.

5-Now install gingerbread 2.3

Start your phone and it will show your sd-card.  :smileygrin:
