Update Center

Finally the new update is available for "my" Xperia J, too - but only if I use the Sony Companion software.

Why is there no possibility to Update the phone OTA via the pre-installed "Update Center" (Preferences => About the phone => software update)?

Actually, never since I'm using this phone was there an update notification from the Update Center although I enabled update notifications.

Some updates are either too large or contain files that cannot be installed whilst the handset is operational or maintaining an active data connection.

Actually, I've read "somewhere" that the JellyBean update via Update Center IS possible So, do you know whether this information is correct?

Nonetheless, I wonder why the app "Update Center" exists. Untli now, the app never suggested new updates. I only get update notifications from Google Play Store. I thought "Update Center" would be a somewhat "global" app for all Xperia J updates (system, apps, ....).

Could you clarify what is the sense of "Update Center"?

I'm sorry, I'm not entirely satisfied with the answering to my questions

Updating to 4.1.2 was NOT possible with my phone so far. Update process via USB cable was cancelled when I tried to connect my phone to computer again pressing the button. At this point I get some "connection error" message using Win8 x64.

Thus, I'm still waiting for a possibility to update "Over The Air".
