Hi:
For the last two weeks, and after upgrading to ICS 4.0.4, I've expirienced a weird behavior on my phone. When I dial a number, and have the phone near my face, it take about 1 minute after I hand it down to have the screen back. It is like the proximity sensor is failed, but this is only 1 out of 5 times.
This is a hassle when I have to use the number keypad for my Office IVR, and worst, sometimes I need to hang on or answer a second call and my phone behaves unresponsive for periods of 30 seconds to 1 minute.
I wonder if this is a hardware issue, that needs to be address in warranty, or it is a software issue that need and update.
I have a Xperia Mini Pro with ICS and works great, none of this issues, is this Arc S that bugs me.
I really appreciate your help with this, or if someone here solved this issue, to let me know.
Thanks
Looks like a software issue. Have you tried a factory reset?
From what you described we would recommend trying a software update with our PC Companion application.
The PC Companion application is a free download that can be found at our website. You will need a Windows™ computer with internet access. Please download PC Companion from http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/
Once you have installed the program and run it, select "Support Zone" and "Software Update". It will give you instructions on how to install it on the computer and how to run it on the phone afterwards. Please make sure the phone and the USB cable are not connected to the PC throughout the installation process. The Update Service is meant to update the software on the phone.
If all the above fails the handset will need to be seen by an approved Sony Mobile service location. Please contact Sony Mobile Customer care for additional troubleshooting and repair options.
